Why is there a gay couple?

I almost typed out all my theories on it as well cause it really got me thinking about the engineering practicalities of such a mission.

But half way through I realized I was going way beyond the point, which is that Hollywood just wants to push a gay agenda.

I'm not basing that conclusion off one trailer but on years of a very obvious shift in character development in movies/tv that directly corresponds with the rampant belligerency of the identity obsessed progressive agenda.

What I hope is that the agenda side doesn't hurt the character development side, but that isn't always the case.
