No they aren't. The vast majority of guns in the hands of criminals come from straw purchases, corrupts FFLs and theft. None of these are affected by UBCs.

As opposed as I am to background checks to begin with, I am satisfied with the NICS - my only poor experience when buying a gun the day after Christmas and had to wait 2 hours for the system to process the backlog. I fully oppose universal background checks - their only purpose is to create an excuse for universal registration.
Background checks is what the anti-gunners want. No harm no foul. So let's just give it to them. It did not stop Adam Lanza. It did not stop the Vegas shooter. It did not stop the San Bernardino terrorist pair either. But let them have it. All they want.
