First. There is no evidence presented on the part of yourself to prove the NRA played any part in the matter.

Second. The NRA is an advocacy group without any authority over the actions of congress.

Third, the exact text of the Dickey Amendment regarding the funding of the CDC, and it it is not allowed to do with it. Page two hundred and forty five.

To carry out titles II, III, VII, XI, XV, XVII, and XIX of the Public Health Service Act, sections 101, 102, 103, 201, 202, 203, 301, and 501 of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977, and sections 20, 21 and 22 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, title IV of the Immigration and Nationality Act and section 501 of the Refugee Education Assistance Act of 1980; including insurance of official motor vehicles in foreign countries; and hire, maintenance, and operation of aircraft, $2,262,698,000, of which $30,553,000 shall remain available until expended for equipment and construction and renovation of facilities, and of which $32,000,000 shall remain available until September 30, 1998 for mine safety and health activities, and in addition, such sums as may be derived from authorized user fees, which shall be credited to this account: Provided, That in addition to amounts provided
herein, up to $48,400,000 shall be available from amounts available under section 241 of the Public Health Service Act, to carry out the National Center for Health Statistics surveys:
Provided further, That none of the funds made available for injury prevention and control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention may be used to advocate or promote gun control: Provided further, That the Director may redirect the total amount made available under authority of Public Law 101–502, section 3, dated November 3, 1990, to activities the Director may so designate:provided further, That the Congress is to be notified promptly of any such transfer: Provided further, That the functions described in clause (1) of the first proviso under the subheading ‘‘mines and minerals’’ under the heading ‘‘Bureau of Mines’’ in the text of title I of the Department of the Interior and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 1996, as enacted by section 101 (c) of the Omnibus Consolidated Rescissions and Appropriations Act of 1996 (Public Law 104–134), are hereby transferred to, and vested in, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, subject to section 1531 of title 31, United States Code: Provided further, That of the amount provided, $23,000,000 is designated by Congress as an emergency requirement pursuant to section 251(b)(2)(D)(i) of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985, as amended. In addition, $41,000,000, to be derived from the Violent Crime Reduction Trust Fund, for carrying out sections 40151 and 40261 of Public Law 103–322.

Note the bolded section of the legislation. What does it say precisely? Advocate or promote. The CDC is free to study firearm-related violence to whatever degree it wishes, but it may not utilize so much as one united states red cent of that funding for political advocacy purposes.

The CDC is only allowed to report on facts, not give its opinion about what firearm-related restrictions would have the greatest impact regarding safety.

The facts do not support the claims and accusations being presented on the part of yourself.

Is it considered more preferable if an individual who is consumed by thoughts of ending their own existence, do so in a manner that results in the death of their children in the process?

No claim of refutation can be made since the facts are not available. The abstract does not tell anything about the methodology of the so-called "study" or who even funded it.

The peer-review process is not a scientific process. If it were, none of these one hundred and seven papers would have ever been printed, only to later be retracted.

Pray tell what studies are being referred to on the part of yourself? Elaborate.

It is not for myself to explain the psychology of others who tire of the same old arguments presented by yourself and others who oppose constitutional rights held by the people to restrict government actions.

umm...how about these self absorbed the inconsiderate people not kill themselves when they have dependants to care for. Life is short and death is infinite. There is plenty of time for them to be dead after they take care of their children.

I've given you the links before. Be honest for once.

Unpublished and recently revealed CDC studies show over 2 MILLION defensive gun uses.

It's difficult to estimate accurately the occurrence of a rare event with surveys. It's interesting that someone who refuses to accept the validity of surveys which measure gun ownership is quite willing to accept the even more uncertain results of other surveys when it furthers their agenda. Noted.

"Self-report surveys tend to overestimate rare events which carry no social stigma, and such surveys can wildly overestimate rare events which have some social desirability....

"Consider the responses to a national random-digit-dial telephone survey of over 1500 adults conducted in May 1994 by ABC News and the Washington Post. Ten percent of respondents answered in the affirmative. These 150 individuals were then asked, 'Have you personally ever been in contact with aliens from another planet or not?' and 6% answered 'Yes.'

"By extrapolating to the national population, we might conclude that almost 20 million Americans have seen spacecraft from another planet, and over a million have been in personal contact with aliens from other planets....

"Using a gun in self-defense, like having contact with an alien, is an interesting, potentially exciting event that might well be heroic."

The above citation appears to be little more than an open admission that self-reporting surveys cannot be used as a way of correctly determining whether firearms ownership rates have increased or decreased in recent decades.

    Think.

In the USA, gun ownership surveys underestimate gun ownership. If the CDC surveys conclude 2 MILLION defensive gun uses annually, then that's most likely an underestimate.

    You FAIL. As always.

Kneejerk denialism does not alter REALITY or the HISTORICAL FACTS one iota!

As usual the CREDIBLE and FACTUAL sources utterly refute the kneejerk denialism.

Thank you for conceding that you did not even bother to read the link to the actual study itself since it contained this explanation of the methodology.

And again we note that the CREDIBLE and FACTUAL sources utterly refute kneejerk denialism.

Once again you expose your own complete of any credibility whatsoever with those thoroughly DEBUNKED links.

The term UNPUBLISHED means that the CDC did NOT find any of the the DATA to be credible enough to publish.

That you cannot acknowledge the FACTS is not my problem.

The opinion piece of a local newspaper in the united states does nothing to refute the actual text of the legislation in question, and what it says. Beyond that, the opinion piece of a local newspaper in the united states, especially this presented article, does nothing to actually prove, beyond reasonable doubt, that the NRA did anything to force congress to act in any specific manner. It is nothing more than politically-driven hate-mongering being presented on the part of yourself.

The conduct presented in the posts presented by yourself does not paint a positive image of the one behind the account. It suggests someone who is utterly consumed by a constant, seething hatred for anything and everything that does not fall lockstep with the established position of yourself.

That is the abstract, and only the abstract. It is not the actual article, meaning it is devoid of actual, meaningful substance. Stop presenting empty drivel. Make the entire article of study available in full so that it may be independently reviewed, otherwise nothing has been presented on the part of yourself.

None of which changes the confirmed fact that hundreds of supposedly peer-reviewed papers have been retracted due to fraud. The definition of the process does nothing to change the fact that it has been proven as being unreliable.

Factually incorrect. It is not possible to give an in-depth, psychological analysis of the motivations of a particular individual in posting specific accounts when responding to others who present their own specific accounts.

The constant use of emojis when referring to others, however, do provide for and allow for a psychological analysis of those that utilize them when responding to others. And the analysis does not paint a positive image of the psychology of the individual.

Yet more kneejerk denialism in the face of CREDIBLE DOCUMENTED FACTS proving the nefarious deeds of the NRA.

And as predictable as clockwork it is followed by pathetic puerile ad homs that EXPOSE that kneejerk denialists can't handle it when their disinformation is PROVEN to be a load of bovine excrement.

What is an abstract based upon?

That the concept of an abstract is baffling to kneejerk denialists is not my problem.
