Why not old, inactive coronaviruses instead of vaccine?

You wear your mask all day like a good American. You leave it out in the sun -- your hot car -- for a few days until all the viruses are dead. You rewear the same mask over and over again, ingesting all the dead virus still in the mask. Your body's immune system responds to the dead viruses, building immunity to coronavirus without exposure or with very limited exposure to the real deal.

Of course, you wouldn't know how much, if any, immunity you've built up, but if you do this for a few months, it seems it would be considerable.

My question to you is, why wouldn't -- or doesn't -- this work? Or does it work?

You replied multiple times to my thread on the virus and the vaccine but obviously did not take time to read anything in the link

Pardon me, but I'm wondering if anyone else has a response to the OP. I know there are several intelligent posters here from the medical community.

I like the idea. I will let you know if it works as I have kept the same mask in my car for over three months.

I’m just a farmer but I give around 1500-2000 doses of respiratory viral vaccine a year. I’ll try and convey a bit of what I know.

This is an enveloped virus, meaning when it exits the host cell it was replicated in, it is “wrapped” in a piece of the host cell membrane. This “envelope” protects the virus well inside the host, but once exposed to environments outside the host (your mask in a hot, dry car exposed to UV light) the envelope degrades quickly.

Once the envelope is compromised from heat (the envelope is primarily phospholipids so “melts” at high temperatures) or low humidity that dries and cracks the envelope, the virus quickly loses functionality of receptors that give it the ability to infect new cells.

Since all immunity depends on either an actual infection or a simulated one, the “dead” viruses in your mask can not initiate an immune response.

Yes, there are vaccines made from “killed” viruses. But the inactivation is done chemically (not on the car dash) so the virus cannot cause an infection but the receptors remain intact so an immune response results. These types of vaccines are “weak” and typically require frequent re-vaccination.

There will be no immune response because the dead virus doesn't actually get into the bloodstream. It stays in the lungs, where it is treated just like any other particle, for example pollen or dust, which are mixing with mucus, which is then removed from the airways through cilia.

It is important to clear up a common misconception, which is important for the understanding of this issue: The stomach, gut, lungs, bladder are not really "inside" of your body. The lining of the gut, for example, is surface to the outside, just like your skin, except that the gut is invaginated "through" your body, so you can't see it. The barrier between inside and outside is made up by epithelial cells. The surface of the lung has epithelial cells just like your skin, preventing dead virus from just passing through.

One thing is clear: If the large majority of people would actually read, Trump would have never been voted into office.

Yeh, sometimes it’s good to remind ourselves we are all just hollow cylinders—merely pieces of pipe cut at varying lengths with the ability to change our outside diameters. :)
