    This guy....

A right-wing conspiracy theorist who allegedly planted a hoax bomb that forced evacuation of a New York City mall surrendered to police early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Louis Shenker, 22, who had recently been arrested and accused of arson, telephoned police before he turned himself in at about 3 a.m., officials said.

In answer to your question, they prefer right-wing politicians because if they commit acts of violence in support of a left-wing politician (which does happen), that politician will immediately, clearly and unequivocally reject and denounce their actions. Not necessarily so in today's Trump-Party.

I know politicians have no direct control over the actions of their supporters. But they do have control over whether or not they support a guy who tolerates... and sometimes, whether explicitly or tacitly, encourages them to commit violent acts.

I don't think this issue is political at all. There are tons of people that want to take selfies with people even remotely famous. I am not talking about celebrities and politicians that probably have tons of exposure but people that have Youtube channels that play games, Tiktok people that make short clips, Social media promoters, etc...
