There is absolutely no reason for the US to be the worlds police force. All it does is get young American service people killed.

With the pull out of Americans in Syria everyone is up in arms. But the fact is the people over there in the middle east have been killing each other off for centuries. I say let them, it improves the worlds gene pool.

The only thing we should do is put a carrier in the Med and one in the Gulf to help protect our only and real ally in the region Israel, and let the rest of the blood thirsty fools have at it.

    Naive!

When Putin dominates the Middle East, the only thing that might protect Israel will not be a couple of carriers. It will be to jump in the boat and submit to his rule like everybody else in the area. Best case scenario. Because a not-too-unlikely scenario ends with a mushroom cloud.

    Nice going, Trump!

We sometimes act as good cops. But more than not we are really protecting critical national security interests such as oil supplies, resources, and strategic military locations and interests. In other cases, it is often argued that we are acting to deal with a problem at the source, rather than waiting for it to come here.

But we need resources and energy. For example:
Rich in copper, lithium, talc, marble, gold, uranium and others, Afghanistan's vast mineral wealth is estimated to exceed one trillion dollars.

LOL WTF. This after you support the invasion of Iraq under false pretenses. Who are you trying to fool??

By the way I don't hear you screetching about Trump putting troops in Saudi Arabia. Funny that.

As for Israel, it is time for them to fight their own damn wars.

Pulling 1,000 troops out of Syria and committing 3,000 to the butcher MBS in Saudi Arabia makes absolutely no sense, unless you owe financial obligations to them as I suspect Dirty Donald does.

That is hardly the point. Betraying an invaluable ally and creating a humanitarian crisis is the point. That is what Trumpets are trying desperately to avoid.

Keep in mind, it was your hero that caused the fighting and the casualties. There was peace along the border until Trump ordered the infamous retreat.

If we don't do it who will? I guarantee you that the alternative to the U.S. doing the job will not benefit the U.S.

There is no reason for Fake Don to cut and run from such a low risk mission that was of such vital importance as he commits over 20,000 US troops to Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.

His betrayal is a disgrace that patriotic Americans feel acutely:

Actually there are two: Russia and China, either of which would be tickled to death to play that role should we see fit to play the turtle.

That's a myth. And closing overseas bases and "bringing troops home" won't save much money anyway. Those troops have to be paid for even if stationed in the U.S.

If you look at the cost per year and the number of soldiers who have died in the Kurdish region it's actually one of the highest cost per casualty.

Love how this brings out all the chicken hawks.

Sorry lads, but that world's policeman stuff is over, and it ain't coming back. You'll just have to muddle on the best way you can, regardless of all the dire predictions. My advice to anybody worried is to invest in a bomb shelter.

Bugger the State of Israel. It is the root cause of much of the strife there. It was a mistake to put it there, and can just as easily be moved to Tasmania.

Yes excepted, we're not in that time anymore, George Bush and Obama administration created the worst huminatarian disaster of this new century in Iraq.

If I remember well, the UN in 1945 stated the sovereignty of every country, and considered a fault to interfere in the inside affairs of a country.

There is probably enough young americans who died in those wars aswell.

Hypocritical given that "conservatives" were the ones advocating for the illegal invasion of Iraq and saying that anyone who did not support the Bush/Cheney warmongering were "terrorist lovers".

I don't recall seeing a single "conservative" in the anti-war march in NYC. Instead they condemning all of those loyal American protesters as being "unpatriotic".

So either the BLOTUS is an "unpatriotic terrorist lover" or this level of HYPOCRISY is the ultimate FLIP-FLOP of all time!

    Can't have it both ways!

Speaking of treachery. Contact Cockburn and learn how your messiah screwed Kurds. Royally.

Obama's deal with Turkey is a betrayal of Syrian Kurds and may not even weaken Isis

    https://www.independent.co.uk/voice...f-syrian-kurds-and-may-not-even-10432524.html

When first announced over a week ago, US officials spoke triumphantly of the agreement being “a game-changer” in the war against Isis. In fact, the war waged by Turkey in the days since this great American diplomatic success has been almost entirely against the Kurds, at home and abroad.

Turkish jets are pounding sites occupied by the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) guerrillas in the Qandil Mountains and other parts of northern Iraq. Inside Turkey, the majority of those detained by the security forces turn out to be Kurdish or left-wing activists and not suspected Isis sympathisers. Prosecutions are threatened against MPs of the largely Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party

Link? How are you measuring the cost of US lives?

"Over four years, the SDF ... sustained nearly 11,000 casualties.

By comparison, six U.S. service members, as well as
    two civilians,
have been killed in the anti-ISIS campaign."

Gen. Joseph Votel, Commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East

The U.S. was fighting the Muslims decades before anyone thought of creating modern Israel and decades before the first oil well was drilled anywhere in the world.
