Why Tax Return saga is incredibly stupid even by our standards.

But this thread is about President Trump. He told us he was draining the swamp. He made a promise. He ought to keep it.

But Mr. Trump ran on the idea that he was draining the swamp...

I agree, I want to drain the swamp. If he fails to do so, I'll elect someone else to drain the swamp(which isn't any one of those Democratic losers). We haven't had a good president since Eisenhower.

So you agree he should release his returns.

Repeat this to yourself as often as it takes: All people campaigning for office will promise things to get into office. The likelihood they will keep said promises is very slim. Campaign promises are not related to real promises, in any way, shape or form.

Eisenhower yes. We need more Eisenhowers and less scuzzy sleaze bags.

The swamp won't be drained anytime soon. There is no incentive to do so.

Why should he? It's nobody's business. There's no requirement. The people said, by a VERY large margin, that it doesn't matter. There's nothing to learn about a person from a tax return, so it adds zero value to the process.

*Note: The country DID choose Trump as president by a very large margin; please don't bother with the old "b..bu...but... popular vote," nonsense that team blue has been rolling out in every thread on every forum on the internet since Nov 2016. It's old, it's boring, it's utterly without meaning. You hate the way we choose presidents? Do something about it.

Are you in your 20s? One day you will realize that candidates will say whatever they want to get elected. Remember Candidate Obama? Yeah, him. President Obama wanted nothing to do with that guy. During his eight years I didn't see a single partisan democrat crying about it. The republicans were, though. I told them the same thing. Candidates lie. Deal with it. Until the American people demand something better, this is how it works.

Go back and read more slowly, Clinton as in Bill not Hillary.

Why waste the time, you nor anyone else has yet to say exactly what you are looking for in them you can't get elsewhere or that show anything corrupt.

After they were no longer under audit, but with him now knowing that WHATEVER is in them the Democrats will even go so far as to misrepresent the facts why would he give them that fodder, let them pound sand.

Yeah I’ve been around long enough. So Trump is just another politician. OK. Swamp not drained. OK. Our fault. We get the government we deserve.

Irrelevant to this topic, and false assumptions to boot.

ROFL no he needs to keep telling the Democrats go stick it. Even the tiniest littlest most inconsequential finding that they somehow think Congressman Neal's staff might find that the IRS has never found would just be used as political ammunition. He knows it and he's not going to hand it to them. They have his financial disclosures, go pound sand.

Ad hominem. Usually a good indicator you recognize the weakness of your own argument.

But Mr. Trump said he was going to drain the swamp. Mr. Obama was a politician. He never pretended otherwise.

It is about standards to which you want to hold President's, do they apply equally?

Oh he's not just another politician by any stretch in fact he mostly the opposite which is why people voted for him, I didn't. He DOES have a particularly acute and sharp political sense and knows how to use it. He is just another rich New York ex-Playboy, real estate mogul, entertainer who ran for and got elected President. I think most people who voted for him knew what they were getting he was not some new face in the crowd. I couldn't stand the guy before and there are still lots of things I can't stand about him. But he IS the President, he won the election fair and square. Not let him get on with it after this two year Democrat/MSM debacle we have been put through. How about the Democrats step up to the plate and start governing.

Last we heard from his accountants and lawyers, have you heard different? But that is what he said after the audits were completed. Quite frankly I hope he doesn't just to spite the Democrats and the MSM that has hyped it so and knowing what they will try to do with them once they get them.

OH I have said that from the getgo, let's go to court. Let's see Congress justify a subpoena for private tax records. You know judges can quash subpoenas, even Congressional. Let them prove the proper legislative purpose.

And I am STILL waiting for you to tell me specifically what you think you will find in them we don't know already. Which form holds this enticing information you are salivating to get and what is it?

I expect politicians to lie. Mr. Trump told us he was different. He said he was going to drain the swamp. I was raised to believe that honesty and integrity were good things... values to strive for. When I make a promise, I intend to keep it. When a promise is made to me, I expect it will be kept. By giving him a pass on a broken promise, you concede that he is just another politician. Worse yet to justify it with all the reasons you have cited upthread. A man far smarter than me once said “we get the government we deserve.” Boy was he ever right. That man was my grandfather... an honest, hardworking entrepreneur and successful businessman who, AFAIK, never told a lie in his life. Maybe my standards fir the rest of us are too high.

I think his results speak for themselves. We haven’t had an economy this good in my lifetime. But he still lied to the voters when he said he would release his returns. Frankly he should have to Chuck Todd to shove it... but he chose instead to just be another politician. Meh.

He claimed as few as two weeks ago they are still under audit. Wow that’s one heck of an audit.

Maybe maybe not and certainly circumstances change, who would have foreseen the voracity of the Democrat/MSM war on him and his administration?

And Presidents automatically get audited every year. He also files a financial disclosure, his sources of income, his assets, he debts, every year but not once have I heard the Dems or the MSM find anything even hinting at something untoward in them.

In all irony, a billionaire businessman can never be a Nationalist, or uphold Nationalist ideals. I don't know how far I want to go into the history of Nationalism though without people screaming about 'racism' and/or xenophobicism. But it's bares noting that Mussolini was a devout socialist before creating Fascism, and that Hitler was once a dirt-poor artist.

The Nationalist is probably more pro-middle class, then either corporatist contemporary political party.

I want his taxes released, just so it's another big nothing like the Mueller report and Trump should literally shove it up Cummings's face.
