A day after Trump embarrassed himself by backing down on the citizenship question -- a fight he never should have started -- Trump was embarrassed again on the following day when his labor secretary, Alex Acosta, quit.

Trump has now had more turnover in his Cabinet in the first two and a half years of his presidency than any of his five immediate predecessors did in their entire first terms.

According to data collected by the Brookings Institution, the resignation of Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta marks the ninth Cabinet member to leave the Trump Administration, one more than the previous high under President George H.W. Bush.

Additionally, the turnover for non-Cabinet senior officials in the Trump administration was 74% as of July 8, 2019, according to Brookings.

The Trump administration is filled with temporary help.

Key Trump admin. vacancies with acting leaders: Acting Defense secretary (for over six months!), Acting DHS secretary, Acting UN ambassador, Acting SBA administrator, Acting chief of staff, Acting FEMA director, Acting ICE director, Acting USCIS director, Acting FAA administrator, and now an acting labor secretary.
