A disaster is exactly what the GOP was hoping for at the end of each of the Obama terms. They got it in the nomination of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

That won't happen again. All of the Dem candidates can be Trump next year.

In my opinion, it's Trump's in your face, obnoxious and uncouth persona. He's a very easy man to dislike. With his personality he belongs in the WWE instead of the Oval Office.

17 Sep 2019 YouGov poll has women voters going to the Democratic Candidate 45-33 with 11% it depends. Question 33. Overall the Democratic Candidate is leading 40-36 over Trump with Trump and the generic Democratic candidate tied at 29-29 among independents.

Polls vary. Mean little this far out.

Trump will lose because of voter turnout... to say Trump... "you're fired!"

No diplomatic power, a slipping economy, a resurgent militia movement (across the political spectrum), civil unrest, an insane increase in terrorist attacks and so on and so forth. The only way Trump can screw up more is start a civil war.

It's a you.gov poll. What do you expect, yet Dems are still doing very well.

I've always said, 2020 boils down to whom the Democrats nominate. Nominate someone attractive to independents which Hillary wasn't, they win. Nominate someone who is as disliked or disliked more than Trump, another 2016 is certainly possible. The ball is in the democrats hands, who they hand it off to will determine 2020. Right now Trump is standing at 36/50 favorable/unfavorable among independents. November of 2016, election day he was at 40/57 favorable/unfavorable and still won the independent vote 46-42 over Hillary with 12% of independents voting third party, against both.

Trump was a minus 17 on election day among independents, a minus 14 today, not much has changed among independents. Yet, one must remember that 54% of independents did vote against Trump. The 42 for Hillary Clinton along with the 12% voting against both candidates. This is why I say it all depends on who the Democrats nominate. Without knowing who that is, it is all just a SWAG at this point in time as to who will win. Actually, in reality, it's a SWAG until all the last votes are counted on election day.

The top reason wasn't even listed: turnout. Trump will lose because, unlike 2016, Democrats will massively turn out to vote, like in 2018. Both sides had massive turnout, and the Republicans lose by 8 points or so. I don't expect 2020 to be any different.

IMHO, the Democrats will exceed the previous (2018) 8) turnout, while the Republican tally will fall short of 2016.8)

Yeah, I think that's pretty likely. The economy is slowing down, Iran is bombing ****, N. Korea is firing missiles, we're back to trillion-dollar deficits, the healthcare system is slowly unraveling, illegal immigration is at an all-time high...I think Trump's support is a mile wide and an inch deep. I think it's a lot softer than people realize, and a lot of Republican moderates will just stay home, or write-in a candidate.

Democrats typically don't turn out in off-year elections. That's a Republican thing. But they certainly did in 2018. And they are galvanized by their hatred of Trump, and humiliated by the fact they could have a President Clinton if they had just turned out half a point more.

Again, the fact you think it's okay to call people who disagree with you 'deplorables' is why folks elected Trump

Stop trying to sidestep, every survey proves that Americans are living longer and having fewer kids, the recent downturn in life expectancy is due to the opioid crisis but that's not killing the elderly.

Nope, Trump was elected because Clinton was as bad. It was a fluke that will not happen again.

People are yelling about 'socialists' and 'demo-commies', etc., yet you are worried about your side being called 'deplorables'? :roflol:

But one is a political description of beliefs and the other is a condemnation of people for simply having divergent beliefs.

No, admit you're wrong, life expectancy in the US has been increasing vastly in the last century whilst Americans are having fewer children. The recent decline in life expectancy has been due to the opioid crisis and an increase in suicides but that is not by the elderly, the US has a bigger elderly population than ever before and older people tend to be more conservative, that is all I'm saying.

The Deplorables have been condemning people simply for "having divergent beliefs" and for being different for a very long time.

They are getting back their condemnations in full measure and then some.

FoxHastings correctly calls out Reasonablerob's saying one thing and then the opposite. That is called confusion on rob's part at the best.

Not so, to use the term is sheer snobbery.
