Meritocracy? Trump is the engine of meritocracy in America? He authors corporate fascism every single chance he gets.

Obama led us out of the poverty politics of Bush and the Republicans, and Trump is trying to put us back. Every day Trump demonstrates he is anti-America in values, thoughts, and actions.

Keep telling yourself that, pubs; keep looking back to 2016; keep ignoring 2018; the blue tsunami is coming in 2020.

Beginning way back in 1975, Social Security started automatic annual cost-of-living allowances. The change was enacted by legislation that ties COLAs to the annual increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-W). But, as we have seen through the years, this "index" leaves out a LOT of areas that impact Americans and the things they have to pay money for on a continuing basis. Nevertheless, as I've already pointed out, for three of the last TEN YEARS, there were no (NO) cost of living increases in the SS payouts at all.... But, have the prices of things that people actually BUY increased in the past years...? Houses? Rent? Cars? About a thousand other things...?

Still, to answer your question, the change means that inflation no longer drains value from Social Security benefits. The amount of income that is subject to taxation for SS did increase to about $132,900 in 2019. Next year? Who knows. The amount subject to SS taxation should be at least double what it is today, but that is just one of the many 'breaks' that the wealthy can use to escape taxation in this country. Weird stuff to be hearing from a rock-solid, Right-wing Conservative -- right? You'd be surprised to know how many of us 'Boomers are really PISSED OFF about this! We worked all our lives under constant threat of the law for disobedience or noncompliance, and now we want what is FAIRLY coming to those of us who have EARNED it.

Like I said, at some point it is almost inevitable that some enterprising Democrat is going to realize that all they have to do is promise to correct this neglect and they'll be in the driver's seat. Believe this if nothing else -- Baby Boomers VOTE, every chance we get, and there's still 70,000,000 of us!

I just really hope the Democratic base sees what is going on: you should prefer a handout to a good economy in which you earn enough to buy what you want.

I think YOU'RE ignoring 2018, Trump did better than Clinton and Obama who later cruised to re-election.

Trump won't win, at least not honestly. He's reduced his voting base to open fascists, driving voters to the Dems and Libs. The Republican Party will be regional only after the damage he's done.

Which bit of 2018 are they ignoring, the GOP increasing its' majority in the Senate, maintaining its' majority of governorships or suffering fewer losses than Clinton/Obama at the same stage before coasting to victory? People talked about the blue wave in 2018, it never happened. ,

The Midterms were the biggest wave election (in the Dem's favor in this case) in American history... And in Florida and Georgia, you had the Repub canadates being in charge of counting the votes, guess who won. Trump has utterly destroyed the party and in an election cycle or 2 we'll see the Libs take over the Right if we don't slip into dictatorship.

"Trump never was "my guy", but myself, and millions of others 'in the middle' will vote for him again rather than see one of those idiot-fringe, hyperliberal morons take the country over and send us down into a bottomless abyss from which we will NEVER recover again...."

HEAR HEAR Pollycy, the Leftist madness has taken over the DNC.
As an aside: Part of the reason why David Chappelle did his "Sticks and Stones" comedic routine has to do with the outrage of the general public over the "Me Too Movement, and other PC insanity from the Leftists and their Radical Fringes. By the way, "Sticks and Stones" is successful because Dave gave "air" to the frustrated people who are tired of the PC and Cancel Culture that has taken over public thought and discourse here in America. I for one and tired of the madness and I am sore over the push to eradicate Freedom of Speech which will stifle creativity and problem solving. The Left and their Radicals are part of the DEATH OF AMERICA.

Hillary is probably the most corrupt politician ever, and everyone including democrats know it. She is an awful human being, maybe you think the Donald is awful too, but you may have thought that about the Don but you KNEW it about Hillary. Big difference. All the front runners in the dem clown car right now are all dishonest idiots. So good luck with that.

I could make of list of the things I detest about Hillary and spend the rest of the evening doing it. BUT, probably the thing that was worst about her was her evident FATHOMLESS, mind-boggling STOOPIDITY!

How in hell could she have had a top-most security clearance as Secretary of State and not KNOW that you must have all of your communications/computer equipment that receives, transmits, re-transmits, or simply contains classified information safely and completely secured within a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF)?!

"Normal" people who disobey this strict regulation get their clearance yanked, they get fired, and they run the real risk of being sent to prison and made to pay a high fine. They sure as hell don't get a 'pass' from the Director of the FBI and then allowed freely to continue to run for the presidency of the United States!

But you had the Dems counting for Dems too, sauce for the goose. No one has actually established any irregularities in either direction. If Trump has destroyed the GOP how come they won the last 2 by elections.

I have to question your history, in 1958 the Dems gained 49 seats.

I voted for "weak dnc candidate", though I give Trump only 55-45 odds of winning in 2020 in the first place.

Biden is uninspiring on his best day and laughable on his worst.

Liawatha is too radical and won't give straight answers. She is also utterly uninteresting. You might say she speaks with forked tongue, but since she's an Indian, you can't say that. Only white women lie. That's sexist but it's not racist.

Now, if Michael Moore were to run with Joy Behar or Kathy Griffin as his v.p., he'd win bigly.

None of the democrats are good and won't win in 2020. I don't watch the debates, because they are idiots. The only debate I will watch is when Trump is completely destroying one of them.

Not much of a wave, the GOP increased their majority in the Senate, maintained their majority of governorships and took fewer losses in Congress than Obama and Clinton did at the same stage before cruising to victory.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_United_States_elections

Lefties keep talking of this massive wave of opposition that is going to sweep Trump and the GOP away in 2020 but there really seems to be scant evidence of it?

A lot of election weren't decided on election day (Georgia even had a do over). Post-election day results left the House under total Dem control as the current impeachment process attests.

True but that cuts both ways. And yes, the DNC control the Congress but what's the point when the GOP Senate can simply block any impeachment?
