The below article by Patrick Armstrong was first written three years ago and directs our attention to the essential differences that can manifest between a serving prime minister and a former prime minister.

It is an interesting article, but I'm not particularly taken with it, even though being a fan of Armstrong. For me there are many former prime ministers who, as a reward for certain decisions taken when in office, are provided with a "meaningful" and highly rewarding job post office. And they keep schtum.

I cite former British prime ministers John Major and Tony Blair as two examples. These two Brits were relatively "un-wealthy" (albeit quite comfortably 'middle class' financially speaking) when in office. John Major, for example, used to wear cheap Marks & Spencer suits in his early days as prime minister. After leaving office both began drowning in wealth, thanks to those special appointments they received.

Loyalty to the insiders benefited them (imo).

Former French premier, Nicolas Sarkosy, when in office was corrupt. His close connections to leading figures in the French mafia, the Unione Corse, are well known. It is worth noting that the Unione Corse has had enduring relationships with both French and US intelligence connection (Lucien Conein, for example HERE) dating back to the Vietnam War heroin trade (and earlier, in fact).

Sarkozy's crooked ness has been known about for years and it took years for his campaign financing from Libya's Qadaffi to reach the point where he was arrested and charged with corruption in March 2018 (HERE). I think it evident that Sarkozy was America's loyal man in France during his presidency

Disgrace among the coterie of former loyal political servants is not unknown but is fairly rare -- reward is more common.

So what happened between Sarkozy leaving office in 2012, Armstrong's article first written in 2016 and his arrest in March 2018 - the absolute height of the US sponsored Russian meme.

I conclude it was because he opened his mouth and uttered things that perhaps he would've been wiser to remain quiet about... as revealed below.
