Will near death experience accounts transform psychiatry and psychology?

No, why would it? There's no mystery at all when it comes to semi-consciousness. We're given to experiencing all manner of hallucination-like events. The mind can be "altered" by lack of oxygen just as easily as it can be by opiates and hallucinogenics. And quite often there are opiates AND oxygen depletion involved in near death states.

As much as some would to think the lights are 'real', they're only as real as the giant spiders you might see when partaking in LSD or similar.

 

Near death? Near death is not dead. The brain plays all kinds of tricks when traumatic subliminal events take place. Dying is death....that's why they call it dead.

 

Very interesting but maybe people who experienced near death just got scared #!*#less and started Paying Attention ....that would bring about changes.

 

People have no choice about being brought into this world.....nobody asked them. After they get here they have no choice but to die. What's so hard to understand about that?

 

This sounds more like psychology changing near-death experiences, moving away from pseudo-scientific presumptions of spiritual or divine influence towards recognising and investigating them as the mundane psychological experiences that they clearly are.

Two time near death experiencer Dannion Brinkley was shown in one of his brushes with death that only the most courageous and philosophically advanced spiritual beings/ angels will VOLUNTEER to incarnate into the body of a child who is destined to be physically or mentally handicapped or suffer from a fatal childhood illness.

 

I agree, I just don't think it's anything "spiritual" , godly , occult, unworldly or the cause of enlightenment.......just plain old biology.

I would change "are not only very true" to "could be true.

 

One of the scariest phenomena that I ran into as I read more and more about this is that the less than forty percent of volunteers in the Helen Wambach Ph. D. research who were men………. when regressed in time to several of what sure seemed to be past lives……… Fifty percent of the time saw themselves as women and were totally freaked out as they saw themselves….. for example…. dying during child birth.

If these visions of past lives turn out to be true……… and a part of how all of us becomes more humble and compassionate toward others………. then one of the biggest favours that we could do for ourselves is to research this…… become informed….. and pass this on……. so that the guys of the year 2200 and 2300 C. E. and onward…… are scared to beat their wives into submission! (We could possible have an idealistic and overly enthusiastic moment sometime between this life and the next one…. and volunteer to come back as a woman)!!!??

 

After I read about God having a plan for the Gay Community…… I started to wonder…….OK….. what exactly is it that God plans to do through the Gay Community?

About a year ago……… about five years after first reading this and beginning to process this information….. it hit me that the Gay Community was going to have a tendency to be willing to accept the Helen Wambach Ph. D. research because it is proof that they are correct….. they are indeed born that way……. When we are a woman in one lifetime….. and a man in the next lifetime…….. and if we take less of the "water of forgetfulness" that causes us to almost completely forget past lives…….. then we would have an increased tendency to be homosexual.

Once the Gay Community largely embraces the Helen Wambach Ph. D. research the world will be set up to become a much more compassionate place for everybody.

 

A good dose of Ketamine will give you an NDE and you can see Jesus and Grandma....and never have to have a life-threateninig condition.

As far as Gays.....they have been in every generation since the earliest recorded history of the human race. I'm sure nobody in their right mind would choose a lifestyle which would be persecuted and /or killed just for being that way so by default they are born that way.

Gorn Captain........ from what I have read so far........ I believe that your post is basically one hundred percent correct.

I suspect that you and I have came to very different conclusions as to what this means.....or implies for each of us..... but your post is extremely accurate!

 

I must admit that I did question whether or not to bold that heading...… but it was bolded in his online book so if you go to chapter 2 you actually would see those words in bold and therefore you could easily find what else he wrote on this topic.

If you go to chapter 3 you will easily find this bolded heading..... that in my opinion was one of the most impressive meetings that I ever read about in an NDE account:
