When will the powerful elite, the establishment, finally lose their grip on the world? Will we ever see a world, without these elite in office, world organizations and political institutions? Do you think, the 'establishment' will ever be a thing of the past?

Do you any of you believe anarchy is a viable solution? Is the idea of the government, the reason for the creation of the establishment? Will the end of government be a solution for the end of the elite? I am unsure about how an anarchist society could work, without constant bloodshed in the streets.

As long as a vast quantity of people want to be taken care of by others there will always be the powerful elite class.

No, it will never happen. It's too easy to use guns to get what you want, so the majority of people are going to use the state to get what they want via violence.

Don't get me wrong. It's immoral to use violence, but the actual number of people who subscribe to morality is quite low.

    Most people couldn't care less.

Elite classes change in name and nuances, but they will always exist. As others have said, most humans crave rule. Look at the number of Americans who worship the British Royal Family.

True anarchists learn to be grey men, not evolve towards revolution. That’s how I see it anyway.

History shows the only way to depose the elite is through violence on an unprecefented scale, and popular government which is usually more brutal than life under the old establishment, at which point they either return to the old style of government or a new elite forms.

There is always an elite class - that's just the way things are. If one group loses out another group rushes into fill the void. The Universe hates a vacuum.

Extreme Capitalism and Extreme "Socialism" (communism for example) both end up on the same place on the political spectrum. In both cases you end up with a few elite owning most resources and means of production.

Often when you have some person talking about a "Conspiracy" they forget that some group has to run things. Obviously there is going to be some group running the show - and someone has to run it. We can only hope that the one's at the top do not turn into tyrannical maniacs.

Distant Future. If humans can colonize and master space; mine asteroids, harnass stars, terraform worlds, we could negate the elite and their various means of establishment, founded upon resource scarcity as they are. But so long as we remain in competition for finite terrestrial resource, the winners will be able to hold resource as power over the losers.

You may need to define ‘establishment’ in more detail. Are you referring to a pseudo-aristocracy of power or a group possessed of administrative, scientific, economic etc skills and knowledge? If you’re hinting at what President Comb-over refers to as the swamp you may want to look more closely to the connection between those in power and the gerimandering of the US political system. Then there’s the power of concentrated interests who own the media. Removing the Murdochs of the world would be my first move if I wanted to take power away from a so called elite.

What do you mean by ‘taken care of by others’? If you’re including those with medical skills, knowledge of safe building techniques, traffic control and safety, engineering, electronics, IT expertise etc I’m very happy to be taken care of.

If people want to live as self sustained farmers and invoke a serious sense of community. That society could exist. But technological marvels are a thing of civilization. Outside of pockets like Catalonia during the Spanish Civil War, or Rojava in Syria; anarchism is a very niche concept that often arises when facing war and turmoil. Anarchism is the natural flow of the Earth, but society wishes to prove itself to be anything but natural.

Anarchism is the antithesis of a system, more than that it is a rebellion against power and tyranny no matter whether it lies in government or private capital. I find great folly in the anarchist that seeks utopia. Utopia is a lie, and only an excuse for authority. An anarchist should never believe in a perfect society, because the philosophy dictates that society is imperfect by existence.

When the Soviet Union broke up, it was the communist party bosses who seized control of the industries. It seems that there are certain people, that no matter the political system, will find a way to grab power and wealth. How does the song go, "meet the new boss, same as the old boss..."

That is exactly how the song goes - "won't get fooled again" is the name of the song but unfortunately the patter of History is that the masses continue to fail to learn from the past.

Politicians still stand up and talk platitudes - make promises we all know they can't keep - same promises the last guy made - and they get fooled over and over. What is worse is that the masses often refuse to learn. We see this on this site on a daily basis.

    .

The basis for such propaganda campaigns is often based upon the research and tactics developed by Edward Bernays.

Bernays said in his 1928 book Propaganda, that; "If we understand the mechanism and motives of a group mind, it is now possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without them knowing it."

Bernays further stated that; "The human mind is like a computer no matter how efficient it may be its reliability is only as great as the information fed into it. If it’s possible to control the input into the human mind, then no matter how intelligent a person may be it is entirely possible to control what he will think. Therefore they that control the mainstream media control the collective conscious of the nation"

This is not some well kept secret that is hidden from the masses to any great degree and Bernay is just one of many who have written on this topic and expanded on these principles. These are well established and proven principles that every journalist will learn in Journalism school or anyone who takes media courses that have academic rigor will learn.

It is not some secret that our MSM is controlled by a very small number of corporate interests - nor is it a secret that the MSM panders to the Establishment narrative du jour.

In 2013 it became legal for the intelligence community to create and disseminate propaganda on US citizens (not that they were not doing this before - just now it is "State Sanctioned")

The budget for the intelligence community is 80 Billion/year - 130 Billion if you add in the "dark project" budget - which of course includes the types of things described above. This is twice the annual federal spend of Mexico - a nation that ranks 11th in the world in terms of purchasing power. This is then an organization akin to a Nation unto themselves - an organization that has spending power greater than most nations of the nations of the world.

This is a whole lot of power in one place.

Even among the mandrills there is the male ruler, the winners with the ruler, and the non-winners.

You are right - and I often do define - it just gets cumbersome sometimes. The Establishment consists of Political and Bureaucratic Elite - and the various big money interest that influence the former. These interests influence the former through direct lobbying via corporate and other interests but also through ownership of the MSM and funding various think tanks ... and through direct membership in the bureaucratic or political class.

Our elected officials are selected in this nation - not elected. Check out post 13 for further comment.

I attended a Benedictine school, so I don't know if they teach this in public schools, but in ninth grade I took a class called sociology. It was one of those eye opening classes, that left a deep impact on me. I can still remember the teacher going on about the ways that society is controlled. How even the subject matter in popular movies are often planted for specific effect. We even did in class experiments to illustrate the effectiveness of such efforts. Being introduced to that at such an impressionable age has made me permanently suspicious of the public narrative.

Anarchy can't exist for long. Human beings require laws and people to enforce them. We evolved laws and governments for a reason.

Old elites are always replaced by new elites, it is the result of the fact that humans are political animals. What creates the old elites and their replacements isn't a well understood process. One suspects the collapse is precipitated by a failure in the current ruling paradigms ability to deal with threats both perceived and real but the replacement paradigm may simply spring up with any reference to what felled the old paradigm.

Anarchy is a species of vacuum, abhorred by both politics and nature. There is no such thing as a stable anarchy,
