    Republicans have said it is a state matter before. Cheney was saying this way back in 2004. Or, technically, as early as 2000.

    So it is not necessarily a new idea.

    Which again, harkens back to the point....did dixon refuse to vote for Cheney in 2000 and 2004? If not...why should the GOP worry about his vote if it goes a little more liberal on same-sex marriage???

    Absolutely democrats have favored it more than the GOP, by a long shot. No denying that. But I was referring to right now, and right now there is no political risk for a democrat to support gay marriage.
