First of all, it damaged economy of Soviet Union. It damaged level of life of my people - of my family. What CONTRIBUTED to dissolution of Soviet Union were the democratic reforms of Gorbachev and well timed responce from government of RSFSR to coup in SU government.

Economy in general got a stimulus to become more self-sufficient, less dependant on investments from abroad - yet in the proces enterprises go bancrupt, people loose jobs, homes, property - plans for future.

My uncle lost apartments he and his wife spent years turning in home worthy of facing old age in, because banks he had loans from went bancrupt due to USA sanctions and called loans back, leaving him with only option to sell his car, sell apartments and buy a new place to live in with money he got left. The actions that meddle with lives of my people, that create tension in the world, that meddle with business between European Union and Russian Federation. Got problems with that? It matters because I got curious how many people praising conflict actually ever been on lectures about survival in natural disasters, attacks of chemical weapons et cetera. Sure. But this time it was your government that started meddling with our economy. For years he managed fine, the stores that closed around my home in past two years been there for years, two of them been there since 1960th. Now in their place stand corporate supermarkets and I do not have a freshly baked bread to buy near my home. Things like that are noticeable. I GREW UP buying groceries in these stores, they were places where I was peeking in to get myself a chocolate on the way back from school. And my uncle was not only one who had problems in this time. My other uncle's wife lost her job due to market she worked in going bancrupt in 2016, and my other uncle lost his job on furniture factory this winter due to staff cut.

These are the reasons why I got to this forum, actually. I wanted answers, I wanted to know what is going on - and I decided to nof just rely on media but ask people directly, look at what sources you rely on in USA. And what I see looks disgusting and disappointing.

Until my relatives started facing serious problems - I was not on this forum. I was satisfied with chatting with people on the Internet without bringing politics in too often, since people - you'd be surprised - fuсking LOVE complaining about Russia. With one of the first questions usually being "What do you think of Putin?" - as if that is literally only thing that matters.


One of things that the overeexagerated attention of US media gave to your people - is a Putin fetish. Makes you forget that aside from him there is A WHOLE POLITICAL PARTY WITH MAJORITY IN PARLAMENT FOR LAST TWO DECADES that has more than enough vicious political bureaucrats. Aside from it - there also three large ones, nimbling on it's positions, and about a dozen small parties that often do not even have representatives in parlament.

Now, where were we..? Ah yes, the Regular Question Number Two: "How do you feel about the Crimea and the Ukraine."

I do not like the bloodbath that demonstration on Independence Square turned into. I do not like the coup Ukraine had. I do not like the post-coup ukrainian government, it's decidions and execution of these decidions. I approve the peaceful transition by referendum in Crimean Republic more than I approve the massacre that goes on in Lugansk and Donetsk. I do not see what problem United Nations have with rechecking will of people by highly observed referendum that would determine the final status of Crimea and Sevastopol - if they want to be part of Ukraine, part of Russian Federation, or stay independent. If people are so unsatisfied with government of state - they have right to separate from it. Government can either accept this act of democracy, or it can negotiate, or it can brutally enforce it's position. As government of Ukraine does in east of country - and that I do not approve. We did not dissoluted Soviet Union for governments elected by people been acting like closed elitist regime that have been isolated from influence of people's will.

And other thing I do not like - is people expecting each other to stay silent if other's government did something wrong too. We can silently accept mistakes of governments - or we can express our disapproval. The second option is what democracy based on - guinding government into executing will of people, not going against it "for people's own good". So if you are planning to demand me being silent under argument of "Russia supporting rebels" - I will be not. And also will demand proofs. Solid proofs - because in ALL THE TIME I spent on this forum, after all the loud talk of users about how "obvious it is" - non, NOT A SINGLE ONE have been capable of presenting evidence that can not be debunked. In the age of Internet and high definition cameras in almost every phone, with all the attention to ukrainian civil war, non of forum users managed to post evidence of presence of modern equiment from Russian Federation or soldiers from RF on active duty on a mission being present on territory of Urkaine or rebels.

So in case you thought of making an arrogant face and dismissing my sceptitism - I strongly advice not to. Proofs on claims ARE necessary. Without them talk usually turns into a competition of fairy tales.
