A residential robber is on the run, after being shot with a BB gun by a female, home alone and acting in self defense.

According to a report from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, it was nearly 11 p.m. Sunday night when Puddin’, a heeler, began to bark. The resident of a home in the 900 block of Hillcrest Drive in Crestline saw a dark object pass by the lights outside her front door.

In fear, she grabbed her gas-powered BB gun from her bedroom. When she walked back into the living room, she noticed that the top lock on her front door was being opened from the outside.

She approached the front door and an unknown suspect, wearing a black ski mask and black gloves, shoved the door inward, striking the victim in the face, which made her dizzy.

The report described how the suspect pushed a large hunting knife through the opening and told the victim not to move, and to open the door because he had a knife.

The victim said she discharged at least four rounds at the suspect. One round hit him in the cheek of his face, and one or more other rounds hit him in the torso.

The suspect screamed and backed away. That allowed the victim to slam the door shut and lock it. She saw the male run up her stairs and away from her residence in an unknown direction.

When the victim was able to call 9-1-1, she said she needed medical attention. She had a hard time talking and said she felt like she was passing out. She persisted nonetheless, providing information to the dispatcher.

Because the male subject was wearing a black ski mask, she couldn’t see any of his hair, and couldn’t see any skin other than around his eyes.

In addition to the ski mask, the victim was able to see that her assailant was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and Converse shoes. He had a large build, she said, adding that he was a little overweight.

Moral: Don't bring a BB gun to a knife fight.

And gun lovers think they need an AR15 assault weapon to defend themselves, but this nice lady only needed a BB gun.

Yep, in this particular situation it worked for her. Not all situations are the same.

In line with its continuing efforts to make crime safe for criminals, CA will soon apply its draconian gun laws to air-powered pellet guns.

And in this case, it was no ordinary air powered rifle, it was a CO2 gun. Much more powerful.

Of course note the choice use of key words in order to cast people that own an AR rifle as some type of sexual deviant.

Compare NRA Members to ISIS, see a pattern here ?

It's not an assault weapon and her situation isnt universal throughout all home invasions.

Law has been written that included in it the AR15 under the classification of an assault weapon. As far as I know, no law has been written that says the AR15 is not to be classified as an assault weapon.

"So, in crafting the 1994 ban, lawmakers mainly focused on 18 specific firearms, as well as certain military-type features on guns. Complicated flow charts laid it all out. Certain models of AR-15s and AK-47s were banned. Any semiautomatic rifle with a pistol grip and a bayonet mount was an "assault weapon."

    dictionary definition:

    assault weapon
    noun

    Definition of assault weapon
:any of various automatic or semiautomatic firearms; especially :assault rifle
    • First Known Use: 1966

According to the military, Assault rifles needs to have an automatic or burst fire capability. Civilian AR15s do not have that.

What about the German Sturmgewehr ( sp ) disambiguation requested....

    StG 44

The StG 44 (abbreviation of Sturmgewehr 44, "assault rifle 44") is a German select-fire rifle developed during World War II, also known under the designations MP 43 and MP 44 (Maschinenpistole 43, Maschinenpistole 44respectively).

Of WW-ll and did you forget that real Assault Rifles go back as far as WW-l and as far back as the Civil War ?

    The Volcanic repeating rifle ?
It was indeed a true Assault weapon.

This no longer applies; as such, there is no standing federal definition of the term.

Some of those gas powered BB and pellet guns are actually weapons and far different from my old Daisy BB gun when I was a kid that we used to play cowboy and Indian with. Ouch that hurt!

These guns shoot a 22 Cal pellet over 700 fps. That's got some penetration power

Enough to kill small game birds, I shot quail and doves and even 2 pound wild hens for food, very good to eat.

I don't think so. The CO2 BB guns I see shoot around 300-400 fps. Pumps are far more powerful. PCP even more so, but those would be pellet guns.
