Ladies...you got what you fought for. So now if you've climbed the corporate ladder and are the main bread winner...yes you are having to pay alimony and child support. You got what you wanted. Fair is fair. But for some reason women are upset by this. I don't understand why?

And there are women getting locked up for not paying. This is interesting.

    :Sigh:

Our society is structured in such a way that resentment is oft bred between the sexes. Women are already hard-pressed to have kids because of the cheap economy. Now, to avoid scenarios where they have to pay alimony or the like, more and more will simply have none at all.

Why? Why avoid responsibility? That doesn't seem like a responsible adult?

#1, do you have a source for this, or are you just whining?

#2, men have complained about having to pay alimony for years. Why do you think women would be different?

Because they would understand that the child needs support. That has always been the argument. So why become the type of person they have historically complained about. 2 wrongs don't make a right. I mean really?

I'm saying more women will turn more to not having to deal with this by opting out of having children altogether.

Regarding alimony, I find it weird that a man would fight to get money out of a woman and not earn his own way. I wouldn't bother a woman for alimony or child support, but that's just me.

Oh, I see. So you’re stereotyping women, and then are confused when not all women fit the stereotype.

I think we have identified the problem.

Let me tell you a little story. I was divorced in 1973. My wife left both me and the children. I took her to court two years later because I wanted not support, but $5 a week per child for their college education. The judge would not order her to pay, yet two cases before mine, a judge FORCED a guy to pay support even through his well incomed wife said she didn't need it. The judge says that support is critical and he ordered it anyways.
So when my case came up, I figured it was a no brainer. WHAT? The judge said no support or long term items should be forced on the woman?? I asked why does a man pay and a woman has no responsibility. The judge said "Mr XXXX, if you client does not shut up and keeps questions my decisions, I will hold him in contempt." I was about to say something else about him hating children, but my attorney put his hand over my mouth and told me "shut up or he will do that". The judge further stated "wise decision Mr plaintiff". So I raised them with no support and no college fund from her.

Women want equality, but do not want the responsibilities that come with it. They are not equal to men (they both have different strength and weaknesses) and the only way they can compete in the work place is by crippling the men's natural advantage. They are even complaining about that men have "privilege" with this natural advantage I see in the news lately, especially white men. What a laugh. I wanted the equal rights amendment to be passed. Then create a REAL level playing field, which we do not have today, the men are crippled with such stupid things as sexual harassment, which is not really sexual harassment.

Do you suppose both society and the law have evolved somewhat since 1973?

And that is the issue. Equality means both get the same. It's not weird. It's the law. I find it weird that you feel the law to protect a child by forcing the parent to pay is weird.

Are women to be treated equal? If not just say so. And it's not a stereotype. It's what is thought of the parent who doesn't pay support. Man or woman. Why is this a touchy subject? That's equality.

DE-evolved would be the correct term.

    Your post is somewhat incoherent.

Should men and women be treated equally under child support laws? Yes.

Will some of the people required to pay child support complain about it? Yes.

This is not weird or surprising.

Men can do many things women can't do. So, they have more ways of making money than do women. $260 or $5 per week is nothing for a man to get. For example, I can help people change oil or work on some computers for that pocket change. No matter what, women won't be able to match this ability so going after their money is low imho.

There should be no forced child support against anyone. 13th amendment violation. Involuntary servitude. The custodial parent can spend the money on drugs, there is nothing the non custodial parent can do about it.

So you complain about the law discriminating against men in 1973. The law is much more evenly applied these days, and yet you say it has “de-evolved.” It doesn’t sound like anything would make you happy in this regard.

This is an odd way to look at it. The remaining family is a unit no matter how society wants to cut it.

You are responsible for providing care and support to your children. That is not “involuntary servitude”. Trying to claim so is deeply pathetic whining.

There is no forced accounting requirements for child support, thus it fits the term of "involuntary servitude".

A man has more avenues of financially taking care of a child. A woman does not.

Where is that written in the constitution? Sorry, it isn't. Involuntary servitude is involuntary servitude. It does NOT have an exception for child support. Read and follow the constitution as written, not as some would like it to be.
