I think this is actually good news...

Women May Have to Register for the Draft as Men's Group Wins Selective Service Lawsuit

On Friday, a Texas judge ruled that the Selective Service System (SSS) violates the Constitution by requiring only men to register for the draft. The court ruled with the National Coalition for Men (NCFM) in a lawsuit claiming the male-only draft constitutes discrimination against men. NCFM's lawyer told PJ Media that even if the SSS appeals, they are likely to lose again. He also suggested the Pentagon will not end the draft, so women may have to register.

"The male-only registration requirement of the Military Selective Service Act ... violates the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution," U.S. District Judge Gray H. Miller ruled on Friday.

I'm all in favor of women registering for the selective service. However if we're going to do that, we could probably make selective service voluntary, since for men, they have to register for eligibility for student loans. Women do not. Let's make things equal and voluntary! Win/win!

The feminists are going to start crowing now. But this is a good idea. Woman want to be allowed in combat roles, then you can be subjected to be drafted. Which is what also what the judge said too.

I'm going to guess that feminists and the like will square the circle by saying they oppose the draft and selective service and that selective service should be ended.

This is precursor to drone troops.

One of two outcomes is innevitable:
    a) the draft will be expanded to include women
    b) the draft will be abandonned

In the case of A, the next big war will see a lot of women casualties, which I predict will undermine domestic morale to the point where we cannot sustain a war on foreign soil. The noble cause of gender equality will never overcome the genetically preset human need to protect women from violence. The MIC will use this as an excuse to greenlight autonomously lethal robots to compensate.

In the case of B, a lack of available 'boots on the ground' will be the excuse to greenlight autonomously lethal robots to compensate.

Which will lead to a true all-voluntary force. But that might significantly reduce the Pentagon's numbers.

they can fill non-combatant roles, as they did in wwII onwards, so yeah make them register... reap rewards without putting in effort is akin to getting freebies... we all pay a price for our freedoms and when 'push shoves' every age eligible person should be included in a draft (18-30)... even us old timers can be called up for service because cdl holders are also eligible...

Will be just the latest litmus test of the lie narrative that feminism is about "equality" and not discriminatory advantage at the end of a government gun barrel.

Did I miss something? Don't we already have a true all-voluntary force? The draft ended in 1973.

You say we all have to pay a rice for our freedoms and 30 is your age cut-off?

Only a minority of women want to be in combat. IMO this decision does not promote equality--it oppresses normal women who already see their personal careers interrupted by the demands of health- threatening pregnancies and the exhausting responsibilities of infant care.

There's not going to be a draft again. Not in our lifetimes.

it is in the military to start off (well, actually 29 was the oldest one could join up with special dispensation, not so sure about now) , and if we'd have kept the draft going, everyone over age 30 would have done their part or still be enlisted doing their part...

Does this mean that I who was subjected to the draft can now sue our government for making me and all those subject to the draft the brunt of an unconstitutional law violating ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL???

Doesn't matter - I had to sign up at the local post office for selective service when I turned 18, and that was years after 1973 - but my younger sister didn't.

I think feminists all across the nation will cheer this leap forward for equality!

Of course it matters. There are several generations now who have never had to worry about being drafted. I grew up in the 80's I worried about nuclear war, but certainly not about the draft.

I'm a feminist. I think women should be drafted.

No, no, Blaster -- you're spoiling the fun of the whole thing! The "I-am-woman-hear-me-roar" crowd wants to go all "GI Jane" and go 'all-in' for the REAL thing!

With what I remember of Vietnam Era, I wholeheartedly approve of them getting exactly what they say they want -- and, I'd love to watch video clips of them going through basic training.... :cynic: . :roflol:

[IMG]. "YOU! Get those teats standing at ATTENTION right now!" :furious:
