I spent 8 years in heavy construction but not as an operator.

I got a bit in trouble on a job close to Merced Ca on highway 99 when we were installing the foundation for a bridge. The day was extremely hot. I had been told by the job superintendent to not force his athlete of a son to work too hard. I was the boss over the labor crew on the job. To help the workers, I decided to fire up the back hoe and use it to pull up some heavy oxygen and aceteline tanks to be used for our cutting torches. I had the crew hook up to the tanks and as i pulled them up, I was told to not use the backhoe. I was not in the operators union.
