I don't think that any intellectually honest person would say that the result would be zero...... so a reduction of one to ten percent was be definition "not dramatic."

Thank you for replying to this topic......
but I do have a plan in mind to put this question in front of the population of the Canadian province of Alberta........ and Alberta leans somewhat toward the political right or centre.......... so the fact that this idea would actually expand a woman's range of choice and decrease economic pressure on Canadian women that causes them to feel pressured toward choosing to have an abortion will tend to be more interesting to Albertans than to Canadians in many other provinces that tend to lean further toward the left.

So a woman would be no longer eligible for this income if she had an (elective) abortion?

Or you're saying let's throw this money at her first and hope and pray it will be enough for her to change her mind?

No.... she would still get her own five hundred dollars per month.....
but her aborted child would NOT receive THEIR FIVE HUNDRED per month!

Poorer women are not more likely to abort than middle class women, when they do have an unwanted pregnancy.

How can it be true that middle-class single women abort nearly one-third of their pregnancies, but lower-income women, who abort a smaller percentage of their pregnancies, still make up most of patients sitting in abortion clinic waiting rooms on any given day? The answer is simple: Lower-income single women get pregnant way more often.

Usually..... Canadian federal level politicians get most of the attention but.....
in an atmosphere where Canadian federal level M. P.'s seem to be scared to express an honest personal opinion on so many topics........ real leadership could well drop down to provincial level candidates and M. L. A's?

I just ran into an interesting article on abortion by a Buddhist that could well lead to a dialogue relevant for many of us.

One possible reason is because wealthier women have much HIGHER EXPECTATIONS economically than poorer women and......
they also know that the men that they have dated and would have been willing to marry, would tend to NOT be willing to marry her if she was a single mother?!

This entire topic has serious implications to how to deal with humans being replaced by robotics and Artificial Intelligence as it affects the economy of the near future.

While you may be right in many cases, you're not right in a significant number of others.

Best to leave it up to the woman.

Because you're turning women into second class citizens with no right over their own bodies.

Something like 80% of Canadians oppose reopening the debate on abortion and that they're satisfied with having no law.

It does when there is nothing in the Constitution about abortion, the fetus, mothers, unborn persons, etc. and it's quite apparent fetal rights and abortion were never covered by the Constitution.

If you want to ban abortion, pass a Constitutional amendment. Resist the urge to appoint judicial activists who interpret away women's rights.

You're cruising for a bruising if you're an American hiding foreign income and assets. You could renounce your citizenship.

But would not decreasing the economic pressure on women to FEEL FORCED INTO choosing to have an abortion.......
be an INCREASE IN FREEDOM OF CHOICE FOR WOMEN?

Your talking about cutting taxes for each child a woman has, not just $500 one time.

We have a huge problem your $500 addresses:

There are many reasons women seek abortions, from fetuses with serious birth defects to failed birth control.
Another reason some women abort—no partner.
