Looks like it could be a good movie. I wonder if delaying the release to allow tensions to ease up some would have been a more profitable move for Paramount? Thoughts?

today's protesters are gangsters and anarchist revolutionary types, too eliminated law enforcement to cause chaos to bring on a social shock for there extreme agenda.

Makes no difference to me. I wouldn't walk across the street to see it and I'm sick to death of Oprah's blabbing about it.

That said, the OP asks an interesting question and addresses something I hadn't thought about. If the movie concentrates on peaceful protests and doesn't show a lot of looting and burning, it might actually have a healing effect.

I simply wonder if the American public have been overloaded (as of late) with protests - specifically in regards to race.

I don't really see why they would. It's a movie. Movies reflect our culture. If they want to release it fine, let them.

related video if the catholic church wasn't involved the protest would of never gain mass simpathy from the general public nation wide ,so somethings odd here, with this whole setup and then the rush to pass a new law incongress

I can absolutely double damn guarantee you movies don't reflect MY culture. Nor do those who play in them.

The release should go on as panned unless a few people who have white sheet fetishes want to become domestic terrorists.

I never suggested that the studio was considering delaying the release. My thought is are they shooting themself's in the foot by the timing. I'm simply asking the question from a profit standpoint.

I for one am a bit tired of turning the news on everyday to see the protesting and racial tension. So I would prefer to not go to a movie right now that has a similar subjact matter. I'll wait for video release.

Culture isn't about one or two people. You and mean can have two very different rules for playing a game, but since we play the same game, the game itself is part of our culture. Culture is the collective identity we all have. Movies are a great reflection of that.

Personally I'd rather SONY release The Interview. No reason why Paramount would consider delaying Selma. I wish they would recall all the Transformers movies. And anything with a Toby Keith cameo. But that's just me.

    what the hell?

Apparently, you do not know much about the movie industry. For feature fils, the release date is set well in advance iwth a minimum of 6-9 months and in upwards to a year and a half. Third, the movie is about a major historical event in the United States. We have had Mississippi Burning and other movies that have dealt with the same subject matter and they have all turned up well with good reviews and good monetary projections. Although today's protests are about police brutality, it is not the same thing as Selma, which was about basic human rights to a group of people wh were treated as second class citizens. whether the movie is the Last Tempation of christ, The Passion, Selma, or any other movie, canceling a movie ecasue some find it objectionable is not the right approach. If the Interview can be cancelled becasue of peole not liking the content, what about the Passion? Last Tempatiton of christ>? Unbroken? Selma? or any other movie? I think that is the bigger issue here, about how movie studios should ract and plan for people who do protest the subject content of the movie.

They made this happen in the media for a reason. The shooting of the liquor store robber being turned into another Trayvon Martin lie was intentional. It was done to help with the general attitude of hate being promoted by the hate mongering left. They are trying to trigger a response to riots by whites to bring about a race war to allow Obama to declare Martial Law and make himself president for life.

Useful democrats will follow along for the thrill.

This is a perfect time to release a movie with whitey as the villain. It's very topical.
