Really? Well that's news as the left has done nothing but keep the poor poor for decades and democrat politicians never ever take money from rich special interest groups, right? I'm sure when Hillary was making millions giving speeches to Wall Street she was telling them over and over how she was going to bring them down. I'm sure the great Barack, the single largest recipient of donations from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in history, took all that money because he was intending to slap them around to help the poor. Reality is a real bitch sometimes isn't it.

The idea of the left getting into the "buy the votes" business is doomed to fail because there is no way the right can outbid the left when it comes to free goodies. Take a small example:

A Republican candidate for President proposes a slavery reparations program equivalent to 50K per each descendent of African slaves.

The rival Democratic candidate calls that proposal racist, since the pain of slavery is worth far more than a mere $50,000. He doubles it, without any of that pesky application business where you have to "prove" your eligibility. If blacks can't get picture ID to vote because of racist Republicans, they sure are not going to be able to prove slavery family history.

So...if you're voting based on free goodies, the better deal is always with the Democrat.

Well, I want vote for the guy that will give me Ubi, but I don't like many right hand policies. So I might give up Ubi even if that's dream of mine if I say the rest of the party platform doesn't suit me.

I suppose I don't see that as a reasonable scenario, even as a thought experiment. It's hard for me to envision that scenario without a bidding war that the left wouldn't win.

This question simply goes along with the conservative belief that liberals want to take your money & give it away to the lazy poor--a total lie. Liberals want a better life for the working classes because they do so much of the work here in America, but are getting next to nothing in return for their efforts.
