Geesus man, they could get here on rubber dingies and take two months to get here, what the hell can we do about it? First up we have to order hundreds of millions of rounds of ammunition which would probably send the country broke, second we will probably have to order that amount of corks to stop our awesomely retarted Collins submarines not behaving like rocks, our patrol boats (like they are gunna make a difference with a million Chinese soldiers hitting out shores) have to have engines that work. Our SAS get shot to pieces by peasants in Afghanistan let alone proper trained Chines military. We are screwed if China decide for us to become their Tibet, the only hope we had was us being able to defend our selves but the stupid govt even took that away by disarming us! I think China telling the Gillard govt recently to choose friends carefully after Gillard allowed the US marines to be based in Darwin wasn't just an off the cuff remark. That was a warning! Like another poster stated, Australia should be allies with no one and trade with everyone, how simple is that?
I vote we get in first. If it's good enough for Grand Fenwick then it's good enough for us! Let's go! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mouse_That_Roared
Our SAS get shot to pieces? What a load of total horse(*)(*)(*)(*). The only people getting shot to (*)(*)(*)(*) in Afghanistan are the Taliban and their ilk. Losing 1 soldier for every hundred or so of them you take out is not getting shot to (*)(*)(*)(*). Quite clearly you have no idea how war works. They're not going to swim here. They're fighter aircraft are not going to fly out of China to here. They are not going to come here in row boats. Jesus (*)(*)(*)(*)ing Christ.......... the internet should have an IQ check.
Peasants armed with soviet surplus are easy targets for all our advanced weaponry. Hell, I imagine if SHTF with China they will unleash some crazy (*)(*)(*)(*) they haven't even told the American public they have stockpiled in some base in New Mexico...
I've search high and low for any links that Australia was militarily involved in Laos during those years,, couldn't find anything. If you could, could you give me some more information? Could make for interesting reading. One thing is certain though, Austraila (along with Japan) didn't shut its Vientiane embassy after the Pathet Lao took over in December 1975, while all other non communist countries did, including Britain and America.
Would the US bomb Australia? No i dont think they would without any sort of good reason to do so. Like if we allowed the chinesse to build military bases here yes then they would bomb us no two ways about it. If Indonesia attacked us we would be fodder. If the Chinesse attacked us we would be extinct. The USA regime are the biggest terrorists the world has ever seen, now i did say regime not the american people. They have more blood on their hands than any foreign terrorists group. They are responsible for most of the wars that are going on today and they love fuelling two adversaries to destroy each other to the last man. Bin laden, the taliban, Saddam Husien, Gadaffi all children of the US regime the biggest terrorist group in the world.
China is a civilisation that has endured of thousands of years, and will still be around after the USA and many others have turned to dust. China is a clever technologically advanced culture, and they are looking forward to what’s going to be happening in one hundred years, not just a few decades like our dumb country. They understand that future wars will be fought over food and water resources, and right now the closest country to any major water supply (South Pole) is Australia - besides Chile and Argentina in South America. Considering Australia’s proximity to massive water supplies and land size, China would have to be eyeing Australia very carefully as their prime destination for their reserve food and water distribution centre for their own country. I think the Chinese are warning Australia about future developments, and that Australia needs to think very carefully whether or not the US would come to their defence if China decided to take Australia as a colony. Personally, I don’t think the US would go to war with China over Australia.
The US has already bombed Australia on exercises, and the UK has even nuked us a few times!! We are stuffed if China decides to take us over yes, unless the US helps! We are a long way away...... so China would need to get into bed with Indonesia to preposition forces during peacetime, and then send a multinational force of Indonesian Army and Chinese Marine's - but even then they'd probably be happy to stop at about the Adelaide as the logistics is getting a bit strung out by then and they have most all good minerals covered. NZ might by then send over some help and the US would have ground forces in along the east coast ready to move. Everyone would agree to split the country and Australia would then be in its best interests to officially become a state of the US union!!! So much misplaced hate here for the US, LOL.
