This poll is only for those who want higher taxes.

Here's a question for those who want higher taxes.

Would you be okay with a 5% tax increase on your income if it meant a 10% tax increase on the rich?

We all know you want higher taxes on the rich, but would you be willing to take a small tax hike yourself to do that?

I voted no. We dont need to raise taxes, we need to simplify the tax code. As written, it provides uncountable deductions and exemptions (read: loopholes) only accessible to those wealthy enough to hire the teams of lawyers and accountants required to find the relevent sections within the tens of thousands of pages of tax code. We common people typically cannot afford 'access' to these loopholes. The tax code needs to be rendered down to a few dozen pages of simplified language that everyone can equally access and understand, preferably with no loopholes, so its just as easy/hard for the wealthy to navigate as the poor. Until this is done, raising taxes will not cause 'the rich' to pay more.

Higher taxes are an inevitability, no matter which side of the political aisle you are at. Eventually we will lose our reserve currency status, which will drop the demand for dollars like a rock. Then we won't be able to borrow money on the cheap, so we'll have to start paying our own way. There is no way out of this that I can see.

No, I didn't know. I did see where he cut taxes for the 'little' millionaire but raised the taxes for the mega rich.

Raising the taxes of the mega rich doesn't work because there aren't enough of them to make it worthwhile.

Meanwhile, taxes have to be raised on the little people, the middle class that is shrinking in number due to financial hardship, to pay for the Democrat's planned spending bill.

Of course, we have to raise everyone's taxes anyway, without benefits being added, to pay down the national debt. Most Democrat politicians don't see that and instead want to add government spending into the budget as a benefit to the people for raising taxes.

You don't call them the top 1% for nothing. I forget which fractional percentage they are, but I think Biden wants to raise the top capital gains rate to like 39%.

Leave the rich people alone. I vote for a flat income tax, the same amount for everyone. You live here you pay $1,000 per year (both citizens and non-citizens and any visitor here more than 3 months) to maintain the government and the military. Why should some people pay no income tax?Why should some people be taxed more for achieving success? Politicians are cagy by pitting the average tax payer against "the rich". That ploy lets them raise taxes on everyone.
---Or maybe do away with the income tax and just have a national sales tax. That would ensure that all who are here are paying something. No income tax return to file every year.

I'm not an accountant, I'm just a lowly electronics tech.

What would happen if the government taxed everyone at 100%? All wages, all capital gains, all profits, all of everything goes to the government. Wouldn't that provide the most tax revenue for the government?

The first thing that would happen is I would stop working. And I think I would have a lot of company.

Because we run perpetual deficits. We are not taxing ourselves enough to pay for all the government we want.

~ The wealthy do not pay income tax in proportion to the average worker. They pay tax attorneys instead.'

I voted no. Not because I don't believe in taxes on the rich but because I believe the middle class pays too much taxes because the poor pay no taxes. The truth is that the classification of rich and poor or middleclass are skewed by politics and racial groups who think they have been abused in decades past and somehow believe they deserve more. Their game is revenge not fairshare. All should have skin in the game. I believe a value added tax on all produced items and a tax on wages should be the same across the board without any special deductions. Social Security should be taxed on all wages without a cutoff amount.

you don't quit feeding the chickens to save money, gov spending is how we put money back into the economy, or add to it for population growth, ect....

otherwise like a game of monopoly, eventually no money left, and it's game over
