We call them bums. A normal city does not want 50,000 leeches committing crime and pooping everywhere. Only libos want that.

Our country does a lot for the poor so you can dispense with the bs about military and prisons. And yes you commit crimes you go to prison. You want criminals and bums staying in your house?

We want mental care and living facilities and rehab facilities. It's preferable to throwing them on your streets and feeding them your compassionate scraps.

Glad I could help you with your daily 'snipe', Pro. I have come to know you well. As far as my descriptions of hyperliberal, 'woke', America-hating trash on the Left Coast... yeah, I have come to know them well, too. For about the past thirty years, they've piled into places like California, Washington State, and Oregon, and made festering cesspools out of what used to be paradise....

Have a lovely day! After all, every day's a lovely day in Florida! :sun:

Why does it anger you? Can't you just stay away from there if you don't like it? I can think of worse places in US, but I'm not going berserk over it. I'm staying away from the backward deep South and their issues. They made their bed and now they sleep in it. Why should I lose sleep over it?

Bingo. Every state red or blue, has it blue and red areas. Usually the blue is centered around the cities and suburbs and the red is in the more small town and rural districts. Even California has many red counties.

People need to understand that you are not born with your political leanings. There is no political gene. Two conservatives can give birth to liberals and vice versa. Political leanings are a construct of external forces and your social bubble.

Felt the need? It wasn't about that. I took a job down here in the 1990s. I don't consider SE Florida 'Deep South'. Do you? Coincidentally at the time I almost took a job with Nike, which is in Oregon. Oregon has lot kick-ass nature and lot of outdoor activities, but very different than FL. There are plenty of nice places in US.

You can't get any more deep South in the entire country than key West.

Ok. We have a different idea what 'Deep South' is. Of course Florida is South in the geographical sense and if that is how you see 'Deep South' then so be it. I am not going to bicker about that. I would include the FL panhandle in my view of 'Deep South'.

IMO the red here is "Deep South". Feel free to disagree.

Enabling them how? Costs more to put them in prison or institutionalize them.

They’re not going to magically become employable if you destroy their tents.

That’s what conservatives want? Quite surprising. At best I expected conservatives to demand they ask the church for mercy and if not go to prison for being on the street.

They need to lose their idiotic representation like Pelosi, Waters, Newsome, Swalwell, and Schiff.
The dumbest of the dumb keep getting elected in that state. Why is that?

On the contrary, I love the West Coast! And if anything 'angers me' it's the fact that way too much human detritus has accumulated there and has all but completely ruined much of it.

Back in the 80's, when visiting San Diego, it was so wonderful to rent a bike, ride to the top of Mt. Soledad in La Jolla, come back down to your hotel on Mission Bay, and then go back out for a wonderful meal at excellent restaurants like The Rusty Pelican, Mister A's, or The Fish Market, among many others. Or, hell, you could just go to a Von's supermarket in Pacific Beach, buy a bottle of cold Riesling wine, get a roasted chicken to-go, and go share lunch with the seagulls (who immediately became your 'new best-friends')....

No, Pro, I loved California, especially, but I also have lovely tales of visits in Seattle and Portland -- before they became open-air homeless shelters and diseased shitholes full of criminals and drug addicts. And who spawns this? Who allows this? Who happily provides funding for this? Right-wing Conservatives? :disbelief: . I hope you never have such horrors in the part of Florida you live in... because once a hyperliberal, 'woke' government takes over, everything (EVERYTHING) goes straight to hell!

I visited CA recently and liked everything about it, including the wine. Cruising the coastal roads and wine country was nice, but I think the best was hiking in Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. SF Fisherman's Wharf was too touristy for our taste, and we knew that beforehand so that was only one day stop.

Me thinks its a matter of how we view things, because I know people who insist on seeing everything in negative light. I lived in Africa for 5 years and it was beautiful, but you'd be appalled.

Only if we can exchange them for Mexican refugees and if Mexico will allow them to enter Mexico and stay.

Which is not say that West Coast Liberals would not be missed. :)

Unfortunately, prison is often the only way people will get help. Rehabilitation programs are offered as an alternative to go to prison. Without that, we currently have no legal means to force drug addicts to get assistance.

What makes Texas and Florida less "Deep South" than Alabama or Georgia?

In Florida we say "the scum settles on the bottom", and sure enough, we have the homeless here enjoying year round good weather. Florida has the third largest homeless population in US.

Must be because Florida is such a libbural place. LOL.

Florida Homelessness continues to grow according to new data released
    https://mycbs4.com/news/local/florida-homelessness-continues-to-grow-according-to-new-data-released
New data released on Tuesday shows Florida has the third-largest homeless population in the country at 27,487 and counting. It also showed public school data reported to the U.S. Department of Education during the 2018-2019 school year, an estimated 91,068 public school students experienced homelessness over the course of the year.

Whatever makes you feel better but the reality is you moved to the deep South. The same i-75 that bought you South still heads North and you can leave at your earliest convenience since you don't like it.

Compassionate people do not enable. They help by demonstrating tough love.
The conniving Democrats use certain demographics to advance their politics, but helping them is not really a part of their agenda.

And well over 1/3 of the nation's GDP.
Much of the the best sea ports.
    Many important military bases.

The devil is in the details.

If we discuss the issue honestly, we will probably get labeled.
    Ready, set go....;)

The left has been pandering to certain demographics, (the undocumented) for over 40 years. They might not be allowed to vote, but their children and their children's children are able to vote. Right? Now many are realizing they, their heirs were nothing more than pawns used to help the progressive left to keep power. If they start to vote Republican, the Dem's reign is about over. Might take a few election cycles but it's going to be ugly for the Democrats eventually.
