So it was perfectly OK for Biden to threaten to with hold loan guarantees unless a Special Prosecutor investigating his son is fired?

I consider that corruption of the most basic kind. But your opinion might differ.

I have to believe that the IG (appointed by Trump) had some evidence of a quid pro quo. If it turns out that Trump was swapping the $250 million solely for dirt on Joe, it's problematic and would probably be MORE problematic for Trump than Joe.
Not at all...but, as President of the United States, Trump has the power to order an investigation into possible wrong-doing by Biden and/or his son. "Rudy" holds no official position in the U.S. government and is the President's "private lawyer."

The President of the United States has no power to order an investigation in the Ukraine. He can try to persuade the Ukrainians to investigate the corrupt activities of a US politician, though.

And what difference does it make that Rudy has no official position?

I don't know, dude. That's not my money. What Trump is using to bribe Ukraine is!

Your strawman is pathetic. If Biden did something illegal, lock him up! He's not my candidate. But put him in a cell where he can see Trump locked up too. Because Trump, unfortunately, is our President.

    and the crime is...

Look, you're talking to people who think that Obama used the intelligence agencies to sabotage his campaign with that fake Steele dossier paid for by Hillary and supplied by a russian spy, and lied to the FISA court to do it.

You're not blowing any air up our skirts.

There is no evidence of a bribe anywhere.

And our President is trying to investigate Biden's corruption when Biden extorted the Ukrainian government.

Dude, you're going off half cocked about yet another nothing burger.

Senile Biden is on record. Even bragging about his criminal act.

Joe Biden's 2020 Ukrainian nightmare: A closed probe is revived

    https://thehill.com/opinion/white-h...ukrainian-nightmare-a-closed-probe-is-revived

What is astonishing is that not a single democrat/liberal on this forum condemned his actions.Blind hatred for Trump stops them from seeing their own faults. Take a harder look at yourself. What Biden did is simply unacceptable in a civilised world.

And yet the aid went through without any investigation by the Ukrainians.

If he believes Biden and/or his son broke U.S. laws, he may order a U.S. law enforcement investigation, through the AG, FBI and the State Department. Those people, not his personal lawyer, would approach the Ukrainians and coordinate the investigation.

Of course he is! He sees him as his greatest threat in the elections. That's a no no... Illegal as hell to bribe a foreign government to help the President get re-elected. And using public funds... tsk tsk.... the orange guy got himself in deep sh..t again...

No, he can ask anybody to do an investigation. He can order investigations from US intelligence agencies, but asking foreign governments for help isn't illegal.

    sigh... no it isn't.

Jeez!!! You guys just don't understand the law. This is why ambiguity when talking about these things is the order of the day when dealing with lefties.

Learn the law then get back to us.

I don't know about that but this LOOKS really sketchy and the reporting is coming from the Wall Street Journal. That's not exactly a liberal rag.

Trump could put all this to bed just by releasing the transcript of the call. And he's not, which means there's something there he doesn't want us to see. Again, suspicious as hell.

He did seem to be doing pretty good for himself for as long as I've known about him. I remember living in my friend's closet when watching a Mike Tyson fight at some boxing venue he owned back in the 80s.

I realize that lefties live in the land of Oz, but you seriously haven't heard of Trump prior to him becoming President?

Why don't you think so? Numerous foreign governments have worked with us in the past on a variety of issues. One that comes to mind in the UBS banking scandal that ran a program for U.S. citizens seeking to evade taxes. We worked with the Swiss government on that prosecution.

I'm not seeing anything illegal there, so... I agree. It's nothing. to worry about.

So far as I know there is no crime.

So, all day long Trump can ask a foreign government to interfere in our elections on his behalf, and that is okay with you.

I guess that makes you the prime example of a Trump loyalist. Whatever he does is okay with you.

Your kind have to lose in the next election. America's future depends upon that.

Then why is the administration apparently breaking the law that requires the IG to report the "whistleblower's" story?

How do we know Ukranians didn't do any investigations?

    ETA:

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that, in a July phone call, Trump repeatedly asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to work with Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani on a probe into Hunter Biden. The call came a month before Trump put a hold on $250 million in military aid to Ukraine -- a hold that was eventually released after objections from the Senate.

This is suspicious as Hell. If this was Obama, you'd be in meltdown mode now.

Agree...it was an excellent post. The DNI is appearing before Congress next week. No doubt he'll be questioned on this topic.

And you would be passing it off as a nothing burger. The only difference is you would be right, just as I am right now.

BTW, does it bother you at all the Biden strong-armed the Ukrainians into dropping the investigation of Biden's son and even bragged about it. It doesn't especially bother me. I just assume all politicians are more or less corrupt and they are going to get away with it.

I'd like to nail Biden, but just for partisan reasons not out of any sense of justice. If you'd like to admit that you are just in this to nail Trump regardless of the truth I'd have more respect for you. Not that you care about my opinion.

Military aid to Ukraine. Or specifically, the threat of removing agreed upon aid from Ukraine, which wouldn't make it "bribery", but we're splitting hairs.

If Trump threatened to withhold military aid to get Ukraine to investigate Biden, Trump is finished, and rightly so. Do we agree on that?
