Yes, you can eject people for many reasons. Just not on the basis of inherent physical or mental traits. That is the distinction.

Your hypothetical is fine so long as there is an alternative. Such homophobia and discrimination is most likely to occur in rural areas; rural areas are less developed. So what if the only grocery store in town is homophobic and posts a sign? What if a private community elects somebody who is racist, and he decides that blacks cannot buy houses? What if a bank decides to only offer highly inflated prices for blacks, and the community is to small to warrant any competition?
