So you are upset that homosexuals are emulating Christian anti-gay groups like Million Moms and the AFA- and the far right who would gladly persecute anyone that dares suggest that homsexuals be treated equally.

They are treated equally, they just want to trash and change tradition marriage and vilify and persecute anyone that does not agree.

Sometimes I repeat nonsense in order to show what nonsense it is- like this

So why do many Republicans, even many Christians, admire Ronald Reagan, if he was pro abortion?

Well as Christians they pick and choose what applies to them in the Bible, so maybe they do the same with who they like as political candidates?

What are some examples of how Christians pick and choose what applies to them in the bible?

You all decided that nothing in the old testament applies to you...but apparently the ten commandments do even they are old testament? It just gets confusing. I never know which laws and rules from that book actually apply to you guys.

Because, like you, you've been fed a MYTH, Sam. The Apotheosis (big word, look it up) of Ronald Reagan into some kind of secular saint....because rightwing ideology had no heroes (and still lacks them) along the lines of FDR, Harry Truman, and JFK.

You beleive what Reagan SAID...and what was SAID about him.

Here are some FACTS about his term in office as Governor of California-

    1. He increased state spending by 177%

    2. He increased state taxes by 30% of the state general fund.

    3. He blocked corporate development of nature trails.

    4. He blocked the building of new dams.

    5. He signed legislation creating an "Air Resources Board", leading to the nation's first tailpipe emissions standards.

    6. He signed one of the nation's most liberal abortion rights bill.

    7. He opposed a ballot initiative that would have permitted the firing of teachers for being gay.

Wanna try as President? Okay, fine.

Reagan ran on "cutting spending" "reducing the Carter deficit" "getting tough with Iran" "standing tough on foreign policy and military operations" "not signing worthless scraps of paper treaties with the Soviets" "appointing pro-life Justices to the Supreme Court" etc.

    Instead?

    1. He increased spending as President. Never ONCE threatening to veto a spending bill.

    2. Deficits ballooned to new records, never seen before under his Presidency and which continued to its end in 1989.

    3. He ran against Carter being weak against Iran in 1980.....but by 1985, his subordinates (Oliver North, John Poindexter) were facilitating the SALE OF WEAPONS to Iran.

    4. When the Beirut Barracks were attacked ....'the tough Ronald Reagan"...abandoned the mission and pulled out in disgrace.

    5. After FIRST "talking tough" about the Soviets....after getting re-elected, Reagan agreed to sign the Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty with Gorbachev. And according to George Schultz, suggested SHARING anti-missile defense with the Soviets to reduce the risk of nuclear war.

    6. The one truly "pro-life" Justice Reagan chose for the Supreme Court...Robert Bork? He ABANDONED when public disapproval of Bork rose too high. Instead Reagan nominated Sandra Day O'Connor and Anthony Kennedy, who throughout their terms in the USSC....upheld Roe v. Wade.

Now....tell me you have been taught any of that?

Just like gay people were treated equally by being kicked out of the military? That ended not long ago.
How about being treated equally in being able to enter establishments that are supposed to be open to the public? Mississippi...
Being able to sign a legal document with another consenting adult that just so happens to be of the same sex?

Traditional marriage has been changed numerous times throughout history. Namly by the Church when they took it over to gain more power.

Tradition is not a legal reason - slavery, suffrage, prohibition would all still exist if it was.

Several forms of gay marriage have also existed in history so you would even lose on that argument.
    Care to try again?

Hoosier's comment that gays "are treated equally, they just want to trash and change tradition marriage and vilify and persecute anyone that does not agree"

is the equivalent of a segregationist in the 50s saying "Blacks are treated equally, they just want to trash and change the tradition of separate but equal water fountains and bathrooms and bus seating and vilify and persecute anyone that does not agree"

And it was legal to jail homosexuals for being homosexuals in the United States at one time.

Due to the efforts of those who fought for equal rights for homosexuals, that has changed.

At least it didn't take a world war to accomplish that change.

The Supreme Court ruled that sodomy laws were unconstitutional in Lawrence v Texas in 2003. While same sex attraction was not technically illegal same sex behavior was. Many "conservatives" want to return to this.
