Drumpf has stated twice he is 'like' a smart person. Even smart people are human beings who walk, talk, get sick and die. That would make me 'like' a smart person. Although Stephen Hawking does not walk and talk.

Or, it could be Freudian. Perhaps he has always known that he is intellectually inferior to other educated people. Perhaps he has always known that he's a two-bit thug who lives under the delusion that he's more than that.
I read a part of Fire and Fury and some of the re-tellings of Trump was surprising. One stage he refers to himself as "White Trash with money" Trump is not really trying to be anything other than who he is and this is part of his appeal to his supporters... having had to deal with fake and pretentious for far too long.
