    See comment 649.

And no, not because "orange man bad" but because "GOP gave him their balls on a silver platter" and none of them have any honor or courage left. Bunch of whiny, scared little sissies so scared of mean tweets to do what they know is right.

The fake news is the repetitive Russians want to interfere with our elections to elect Trump. It’s like Jussie Smollet showing up in Chicago to report a hate crime over and over again. You’d think the Banana Republic Party would be loath to continually remind the electorate of their stupidity.

how incredibly stupid. What titles of nobility has he presented?

And do you think he's in violation of the Constitution by not receiving pay?
Because he's giving out titles of nobility and not receiving pay?

first of all I don't believe he's giving out titles of nobility you'll have to show him doing that. And I don't give a crap about him not receiving pay.

Those are some pretty orange man bad claims you're making there.

Wow! I had no idea the names were actually publicly accessible. I assumed it would be off-limits to the public. I learned something new today. Good job finding this info!

The often-quoted "47% don't pay taxes" was most famously popularized by Mitt Romney in a closed-door fundraiser that was caught on video by a caterer.

    Here is the truth:

    * It's not 47%, but 44% (only slightly more than 43% under Obama, due to increasing retirees & low-wage earners).

    * Nearly half of the 44% are retirees living on Social Security benefits. Many others worked but made too little to pay federal income tax, but still paid sales taxes, payroll (FICA) taxes, property taxes, and state income taxes (where applicable).

    * Many low- and below-average-income families pay more in payroll taxes every year than they pay in federal income taxes. All but the top 20% of American families pay more in payroll taxes than in federal income taxes.

    * The very old do not pay income tax simply because many make too little to reach the thresholds for owing tax and because Social Security benefits are excluded from Adjusted Gross Income for singles whose income is below $25,000 ($32,000 for couples). Those 65 or older do not even have to file a federal income tax return if they make less than $13,600. Half of those 65 or older receive Social Security benefits of about $15,000 or less.

    * Among those who receive some government support in one year, 60 percent will get a transfer in the following year. But five years later, only about one-in-five still will be getting benefits. And after 10 years, only about 12 percent still get benefits.

    * Low-income working age people often are in and out of the workforce. Women may work ---- and pay income taxes ---- until they have a child. Then, they may stop paid work or work part time. Low (or even moderate) earnings, coupled with having children, make families eligible for the earned income tax credit and the child tax credit which often reduce tax liability to zero ---- or even result in a payment from the government.

    * The fact that such a large percentage are excempt from paying federal income tax because they don't earn enough shows how poor much of the nation's people actually are.

The poll highlights which news sources people personally trust, which is subjective. The poll offers no judgement/analysis/fact-checking as to which news sources are actually the most trustworthy/factual/reliable.

    You mean 57% (max)?

What income bracket in the U.S. will Bernie take 57% (or more) from other than from the ultra wealthy?

Yes they have a free market, but it's not a runaway/cancerous, virtually unregulated capitalist system like in the U.S. where the rich can buy off the nation's policy makers, enrich themselves at taxpayer expense, hoard & destroy natural resources with impunity, screw workers, impose anti-union policies, and do not pay their fair share of taxes.

    ----------------------------------------

"The Nordic Model includes a comprehensive welfare state and multi-level collective bargaining, with a high percentage of the workforce unionised and a large percentage of the population employed by the public sector (roughly 30% of the work force). The Nordic model began to gain attention after World War II."

"In Sweden, free market practices exist alongside government controls that redistribute wealth and provide extensive services."

"These include support for a universalist welfare state aimed specifically at enhancing individual autonomy and promoting social mobility; a corporatist system involving a tripartite arrangement where representatives of labour and employers negotiate wages and labour market policy mediated by the government; and a commitment to private ownership (with some caveats) within a mixed economy."
    [LINK]

That's because the disparity between the rich & working class (in terms of income inequality & percentage of rich people) is not huge like it is in the U.S.

1.2% of Sweden's 10 million people are millionaires, with 33 billionaires (all but two are single digit billionaires)...and wealth is more evenly distributed. So the bulk of wealth lies with the working class...not the wealthy.

By contrast, the U.S. has 19 million millionaires (5.8% of population; 40% of world's total), and 621 billionaires (net worth of $2.9 trillion). The bulk of the wealth lies with the wealthy...not the working class.

Sweden has a progressive income tax, maxing out at 57%.

Should one man have that power?

I like the plan proposed by some Democrats to impose new rules and reinstate some old ones.
Rules that allow bipartisan bills to bypass leadership and go directly to committee for example.
Senate rules to return to the 60 votes for confirmation to prevent Supreme court justices being approved strictly along party lines.
Rules forcing hearings and votes on judicial nominees.
Stripping the majority leader of absolute power over bills and putting in means to circumvent him/her.

The House and Senate are as dysfunctional as they are because too few have too much control. Bringing back democracy should begin with them.

You think that having a lesser percentage of millionaires is a good thing ?? Why do Swedish millionaires and billionaires move out of the country ??

That's the way our system works. It would be a waste of time not to table these poison pill bills coming over from the Pelosi House.

Thank Harry Reid for removing the requirement of 60 votes on judges.

Are you so ignorant of the language used during the time of our founders? They wrote what they knew during their times. Every effort was made to ensure that no president would come to see himself as a king, as above the law. It applies to modern presidents, especially this one.

How does "giving out titles of nobility" differ from "giving high paying, cushy administration jobs such as ambassadorships to those who give you money and kiss your ample butt but are otherwise unqualified"? How does it differ from "granting pardons to other corrupt people who you believe are your friends or who otherwise have status in your opinion, even if they don't deserve it"? How does the second sentence in Article I, Section 9, item 8 not apply to the many foreign agents, businessmen, oligarchs, attaches, and so forth who deliberately stay at his properties and put money in his pocket?

Then there is Article II, Section 1, item 7: "The President shall, at stated Times, receive for his Services, a Compensation, which shall neither be encreased nor diminished during the Period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that Period any other Emolument from the United States, or any of them." The "any of them" in the lingo of that era indicated everyone.

    These may help you:

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/emolument

Don't our public schools teach this stuff any more? When I was in school, we could not graduate from the 8th grade and continue on to high school until we passed the dreaded Constitution test, which at that time (1965) took an entire day. It included 50 each of true/false, multiple choice, and essay questions, and a 30 minute oral exam. If you didn't pass, you had to attend summer school or repeat the 8th grade.

Kids today know nothing, and by many of the comments here, neither do a lot of adults. I guess I should be thankful for a quality education.
