There were originally two and now three violations of federal code.

The first is outright extortion by illegally withholding the funding for personal gain.

The second was the illegal attempt to gain something of value for his 2020 campaign from a foreign nation.

The third was witness intimidation when he threatened the ambassador during her testimony to Congress.

That these are all impeachable High Crimes means that there was sound justification for the inquiry and more than sufficient to proceed with Articles of Impeachment.

Is this a joke? Facts from testimony:

Ukraine didn't know even after the call that money was withheld, they found out from a dem loving politico article.

Nobody and I mean NOBODY, talked to Ukraine about it. Some heard that maybe someone did from someone else BS

Biden company was under investigation when Biden pulled his quid pro quo.

An ambassador was reassigned and her feelings are hurt because she was discussed on a call and neither the New Ukraine President nor Trump liked her.

No, that would be your defense of Trump and Republicans.

Thank you for the compliment but,

Why overcomplicate things? I like things being simple:

During Obama reign, Ukrainians got blankets and rations
During trump reign, Ukrainians got Javelin tank-killing missiles.

The underlying reasons for the former and the latter are many, but the facts speak for themselves.

When that tweet comes from the most powerful individual on the planet, you'd be intimidated, too.

And unless you're a woman, you wouldn't have more than a vague clue about what is or is not sexism or misogyny, so do us both a favor and get off that dead horse. :deadhorse:

The right just has to have everything both ways. FFS, you all whined and clutched your pearls over and over about the initial interviews taking place in a closed SCIF, but the reason they did it that way was precisely because they didn't want respondents to "get their stories straight." Really, you guys kill me with your "have my cake and eat it too" expectations.

What stories be that? The opinion of a guy who read about an event in New York Times? The opinion of another Ambassador who's butt hurt about being fired? The opinion of the soldier who thinks he should be making US foreign policy instead of the President of the United States?

    These stories?

    Bring in another storyteller! :applause:

Heh heh. Careful what you ask for.

Ukraine is the point of the spear for keeping Russian agression in check. Holding up aide, or making Ukraine look weak by not inviting them for an official White House visit, encourages Putin to further acts of war in that region.

The reason we became so involved with Ukraine starts at the breakup of the Soviet Union. When Ukraine regained their independence, they sudden found themselves in the position of being the third largest nuclear power on the planet. The Soviet Union placed the lion's share of their land-based nuclear arsenal in Ukraine because of its proximity to Western Europe. Ukraine could have gone rogue and tried to be a power player in the region. Instead, they opted to strive for democracy, justice, and the rule of law. We urged them to give up their nukes with the promise that we would protect them from Russian agression.

The aid packages started out minimally, gradually including more than blankets, food, and new boots, moving to more lethal forms of military aid. And please, don't reply with that ignorant right wing talking point about Obama holding back on things like Javelin tank busters, and dear old Trump giving them more lethal and effective weapons. First, the aid packages have been increasingly large and lethal as Ukraine has worked on cleaning their house, and second, the president does not decide on any aspects of those aid packages. That is the purvue of congress, and congress has been very bipartisan in their approval of these aid deals. The only power the president has is to recommend, or to veto the approved bills.

As to Trump holding back that aid for personal gain, two things: 1. While he can do that, he really shouldn't. The DOD decides whether or not a country should receive military aid, and the DOD had already signed off on this particular package, largely based on reports from our State Department personnel in the region, like Ambassador Yovanovitch. 2. Holding it back encourages Putin to push, and we will probably never know how many Ukrainians died because Trump wanted dirt on Biden.

Is that precise enough for you?

Great. That shows that Kent is not a partisan hack or a "never Trumper."

If there is real cause to have the Bidens investigated, why isn't our DOJ on it? Burisma has been investigated by Ukraine's justice department, and they kept that investigation open just a tad in order to keep that company's oligarch in line, even though no real wrongdoing was uncovered. Yovanovitch said as much in her testimony.

Please do your homework on this issue before debating, because so far, you're wasting my time and yours. (I'm retired, so I have plenty of time. You?)

The treatment of a male on the same circumstances would have been no different.

Again, if you're not a woman, please stop trying to tell me what is or is not sexist. My radar has been tuned to those nuances since I was nine.

Yes. But not until Trump gecame aware that the gig was up, that the public was about to be made aware of his attempt at extortion.

If you're trying to go the route of "they got the aid and Trump didn't get his oppo research, so no crime here," answer this:

Let's say that while you are out for the evening, a burglar breaks into your house. Your neighbor sees him picking your lock or breaking your window and commences to making a lot of noise and calling 911. The would-be thief runs off without getting any of your stuff, and the police nab him as he is running away. Since he didn't get anything, is he not a criminal? Would you decline to press charges?

If you actually knew the facts, it would help.

Yes, liking things to be simple is common with the right. Why confuse people with facts? Why muddy the waters with the real life complexities of international relations and policy?

Do us both a favor and stop trying to debate a complex issue without knowledge of the details. I'm retired, so I have pkenty of time, but I can still feel resentful and disgusted by people who think they know what they're debating, but are only wasting my time and theirs.

See comment #388, then get on google and do your homework. Until you do, your posts aren't worth consideration on this issue.

Ah yes, about knowing the facts. And the facts are:

During trump reign, Ukrainians got Javelin tank-killing missiles

Do you dispute them facts, or are you just parsing and hair-splitting?

    My friend,

I do not know all that many Liberal posters who are worthy of me untying half my brain from behind my back to debate them. You're certainly no being one of them :)

She serves at the pleasure of the president, when she cannot or will to serve the president's agenda she has no place in the administration. Not sure why liberals don't understand this sort of thing...

Yes I certainly have the link.

As I suspected, it is a solid Nazi name.

Schiff. Schiff is a Jewish and German surname meaning "ship". The Schiffs are known from "about 1370, the earliest date to which any contemporary Jewish family can be definitely traced".
    Schiff - Wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Schiff

And a 3 and a 2 and a 1 for one Democrat or lover of them to claim Schiff is a Jew.

He recommends to you using Google. I want to recommend using DuckDuckgo to keep from being steered to ads. At one time, Google was a premier search engine.
