Why don't you compare LBJ to Romney while you're at it

Reagan wouldn't even be on the ticket. He would be vilified as a socialist. He raised taxes and raised the debt ceiling numerous times. In 1981 he called collective bargaining "the sacred right of American workers to negotiate their wages." He said this at a carpenter's union convention. "collective bargaining...has played a major role in America's economic miracle. Unions represent some of the freest institutions in this land. There are few finer examples of participatory democracy to be found anywhere."

He would be labeled a commie by the reactionary Republicant party of today.

Reagan- who I didn't care for politically- was a master politician- but more importantly he didn't villify his opposition just because they were Democrats.

He and Tip O'Neil would sit and kick back with whiskey togethery- Republican and Democrat- and the next day be disagreeing with each other- but never stopped being willing to work with each other.

That is not happening today. And its the fault of both Democrats and Republicans.

Reagan believed in America. Those days are over.

It is very difficult to compare Reagan's time to present-day America. He would do poorly probably. Then again, compared to the other GOP contenders, probably very well. I do not know. And my final answer is I don't give a (*)(*)(*)(*).

America is gone. All that remains is a POS that pretends it's a country.

China was smart to block all things American culture in their country. I would too. This culture is toxic. Actually America has no culture. So sad.

Hey guys America is not dead yet

And we have not seen our best days

I lived under Jimmy Carter and while thiongs were bad America came back WITH THE RIGHT LEADERSHIP

Under Carter we had gas lines around the corner

    Double digit inflation

A prime interest rate of 20%

    Unemployemnt was around 8%

Amercia was where it was where we are now. Down, feeling sorry for itself, a boob in the WH that thought government created wealth and success

Do we have a Reagan ruight now in the Republican party? No we do not

Mitt is another John McCain in my book but that does not mean America's best days are over

Even during the Great Depression there were many Americans who started up their business and had the drive to succeed despite what was going on around them

For example, Pepsi enetered bankruptcy during the Great Depression and its assesst sold to a man who sold it to another guy who owned a chain of soda shops

We all know how that turned out

Feeling sorry for yourself and whining about how bad things are wil NEVER improve things

We recovered from Carter and we can recover form Obama

But with the debt and entitlements it will take a strong person who has the guts to do what is needed

Just as Reagan did when he fixed the mess left behind by Carter

America has gotten too powerful. What do you want to do take over the world? It's over. Listen to Ron Paul. We are hated because the vast majority of wars we engage in we are lied our way into by our leaders. They did this to us, now we must pay the consequences. Either we remain a sovereign nation with rights endowed by our creator outlined in the constitution or we become part of the "global community" and gradually drift into a european-like democracy as our rights and liberties are chiseled away into history.

I do listen to Ron Paul when I have Insomnia and he does take care of that

Other then that Ron is a bitter old fool who needs to go to Old Farts home and watch the soaps in the afternoon. He is a sad excuse for a human being after blaming America for 9/11

He did not "blame America for 9/11". The mass media told you to react this way to his response. They subliminally programmed the reaction into your mind. I look at the media and see how they control Americans and then I curl up into a ball.....

America had a reservoir of well educated human capital that allowed it to recover from Carter's single term. That's not true today.

Companies are sitting on TRILLIONS waiting for Obozo to go back to Chicago

Should Mitt win, and the R's take the Senate and nice round of tax and spending cuts (and the repeal of Obamacare) will cause that capital to be released into the economy

    Maybe, maybe not.

Mitt strikes me as Obama lite. America's problems are structural.

The leftist controlled public school system has dumbed down the population. Most kids today can't read, write or do math with any proficiency.

Nothing I see on the horizon will end the division in this country. Divided countries don't succeed.

Mitt is another John McLame and he will be taking on Jimmy Carter 2.0

The only hope Mitt has to to pick someone like Rubio or Chris Christie as his VP

That will help the R's running in the Hosue and Senate races across the nation to get the vote out for the Reublican party

And yes if there are REAL spending cuts and tax cuts to get the people back to work (who will then be paying taxes) you will see the rpivate sector respond

and we might get our AAA credit rating back that Obama lost for us

It does sum up how I feel about Mitt

In a year where the WH was the R's for the taking they put up the likes of Miit and Newt?

Adding Ron Paul in the mix we ened up with this as our Presidentail field of candidates

    and Mitt is Moe

He would be called a Socialist, because President Obama liked his policies.

How would Obama do in the 1980 against Reagan.

I know the 27 Yankees would win today.

and Obama wouldn't get on the ballot.
