Romney recently bought a modest (as far as multimillionaire beach houses go) beach house on a cliff overlooking the ocean, but hes renovating it with amenities suitable for his wealth. First of all, he is having a 3600 sq foot basement built and a car elevator for his cars there (if youre gonna park several cars at a cliff-side house, you gotta have a car elevator). http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0312/74518.html Romneys lack of success at portraying himself as a man of the people is understandable. He isnt one.
nothing I said implied any envy, nor do I feel any. I just wonder how you GOPpers see a man with a beach house and car elevators as possibly understanding the needs of us in the 99%! As for your signature: My wife is a feminist, but she's done none of those. Is she not a true feminist? She only refuses to take a subservient, meek role toward men, and I am man enough that I have never needed her to assume one in our house.
Big pimpin and spending cheese. This dude's own campaign manager said he's a flipflopping piece of script who will change his views once he faces the throne. Anyone who can't see that he's another Obama...from the "right"...seek help, better yet, don't vote.
Does anyone know what the mental aberration is that liberals have that makes them hate success and achievement? I'm jealous, a 3600 sf garage?? Mine is only 1200 sf. [1196 actually] I'm calling a contractor in the AM. And if I put in an elevator, it will be for my 70 plus year old knees, not my cars. But then my house is not on the side of a cliff. It is at the top of the highest point in the county, but no cliff. Helps me look DOWN on the little people. Maybe I could unload it on Romney for a Florida vacation place and go to assisted living. Liberals are funny,,,,,,sad, aggravating, EXPENSIVE, but funny.
Sorry man, but attacking Romney because he's rich is just as bad as attacking Obama because he's black... so what? There a myriad of other reasons, much much better reasons, to not like Romney.
I've known quite a few well off, downright "filty" rich people. They aren't so different then us poorer folk. Some even have wealth envy (or wealthier envy) . And some are stand up folks that don't deserve the vile that come from some people that don't know how to focus their energy on anything positive.
I don't think being rich and successful makes you ineleigible to be President but Romney does not have a shred of empathy for the common voter. His idea of funny: "My dad closed his factory in Michigan and fired 1,000s of people" Of course, this is from the same guy who claims to love firing people. Have a look: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrgY-dP6mLs&feature=g-logo&context=G269b549FOAAAAAAAcAA"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrgY-dP6mLs&feature=g-logo&context=G269b549FOAAAAAAAcAA[/ame]
Not at all except his trying to portray himself as a "man of the people" with a 5 car garage a car elevator at his Summer house on the ocean is sorta comical.
I love the top rated comment: "Mel Brooks said, "Comedy is when you fall down a manhole. Tragedy is when I fall down the manhole." Mitt Romney with the uncommon touch proves once again that he is tone deaf to the plight of ordinary people, who have lost their jobs or are unemployed, by completely looking past them, like past servants in an estate where he is entertaining lords and masters, using their nameless, faceless serf-like fates for the telling of the humorous exploits of the high and mighty." Yet there are some people on this forum who can't get off Romney's dick. They are the serfs and servants who absolutely adore their master.
I don't dislike achievement, but I do dislike hypocracy Too bad you're are so right wing Dan, otherwise you might seek out some Dori Previn music. She was quite wealthy after she married Andre Previn, a well-heeled composer of the 1970s, but likely dead now. The song Dori Pervin wrote and sang was "Mythical Kings and Iguanas". She referred to the "little people" you refer to as iguanas and sang of "Down, down, down where the iguanas play". Since you love the feeling of superiority so, here's her singing that song [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVy5hAZ8Pdw"]Dory Previn - Mythical Kings and Iguanas - YouTube[/ame] If you like to see
success doesn't bother me at all. I applaud it. I have problems, however, with hypocrisy, which is what this thread is about.
I don't see hypocrisy. We've seen Romney's tax returns and he certainly gives a lot more to charity than any president in recent history. Not to mention he's often not taken a salary at his job. I wouldn't doubt that he does the same thing when he becomes president. I also applaud success. Some of the nicest people I know are super rich and began with meager beginnings.
If I had $250 million, how much of it should I give to charity. If I gave $100 million of it, I'd still have $150 million to live a glamorous lifestyle! how much of his $250 million did Romney give? If you had $250 million, would you be driving a US pickup like Romney told auto workers in Detroit? Maybe Romney might convince you he drives pickups, but not me! http://www.mediaite.com/tv/romney-t...up-and-mustang-his-wife-drives-two-cadillacs/ If I had $250 million, I could sure afford to work without pay and still make $10,000 bets! His "meager" $100 million beginnings from his inheritance! Foxnews is not the best source on that. Did his father disinherit him?
You libs are so aroused by your own righteous indignation that it blinds you in your weak attempts to ridicule a successful businessman and a rich one at that. Poking fun of Romney's wealth would be like me poking fun of obama's need to use the teleprompter--baseless and useless in the larger political picture. I also find it quite disengenuous of you to state that Romney is tone deaf to the plight of ordinary people (whatever defines an ordinary person), or that he looks past them--especially when we had the moderator JP5 go on to tell you that Romney wouldn't accept a penny of his future presidential salary, and that he does indeed give millions to charities. Kind of makes you and your post look extremely small and envious...now doesn't it? In my world, and in the world of people who like to see America move forward with job growth and industry growth--we look to a proven leader like Romney who has the credentials to do just that, and we look to him without being petty in our scrutiny of such a candidate--as is the want of of guys like yourself. Reading your pettiness makes me think that they just kicked you out of the welfare and foodstamp line, and that you'll need obama to increase those roles off the backs of the working people in order to make life somewhat comfortable for you. GOD, are you people ever pathetic.
Your envy is acknowledged and noted. You may repetitiously show your envy if you wish, but everyone is now aware. Thank you.
Man, I wish Barack Obama would buy his family a house like that. I worry about his poor lil daughters without the roots of a family home. You know they haven't been back to the house in Chicago since daddy got elected! Poor kids, always sleeping in other people's beds. Good for Romney... everybody needs at least one place to call home... two if they can afford it.
