I'ts one thing to be concerned about family values...another to hold a persons 20 year political statement over the real record . The support for Santorum is and WAS the anti Mormon vote..not any real support for the republican economic values. If you compared Santorums votes V Romney's record you might see the real Romney.. The far right still doesnt have a clue that ABORTION..GAY RIGHTS and Anti Religious freedom is NOT in the forefront of Romney's policy going forward. He does want to keep everybody in AMERICA feeling American...and I wonder if The far right will ever get that feeling back? Here is a tidbit.. http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/...eligious-conservatives-wonder-how-to-proceed/ (CNN) - Evangelical activist Michael Farris was not exactly surprised that Rick Santorum suspended his campaign on Tuesday. But that doesnt mean that Farris, a longtime political organizer, knows what hes supposed to do now. Right now my choice is to sit on my hands and do nothing or to actively try to find some alternative to Mitt Romney, Farris said in an interview shortly after Santorum's announcement. Some of us just have a hard time supporting a person who said he was going to be more liberal on gay rights than Ted Kennedy, said Farris, chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association, referring to remarks Romney made in a 1994 letter. End. But to put into context..just 2 years before that Santorum said this.. In a December 1995 Philadelphia Magazine article which the Huffington Post pulled from Temple University archives Santorum conceded that he was basically pro-choice all my life, until I ran for Congress But it had never been something I thought about. Asked why he changed his mind, he said that he sat down and read the literature. Scientific literature, only to correct himself and note that religion was a part of it too. Elsewhere in the piece, an anonymous prominent Republican active in Planned Parenthood said that Santorum was identified in 1990 as a pro-choice lawmaker. No one here had identified him as anti-choice, the Republican said. http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/rick-santorum-i-was-pro-choice-until-i-ran-for-congress/ END.. Or add to the fact he supported Specter who IS and remains PRO CHOICE.. this family litmus test remains somewhat muddled. MORE from the 1st link... Religious conservatives were the key to Santorums unlikely rise as a serious presidential candidate. Conservative evangelicals and Catholics were drawn to Santorum as much for his personal story he is a conservative Catholic and homeschooling dad of seven as for his outspoken advocacy against abortion rights and same-sex marriage as a U.S. senator. End.. So the fact he lied about his home schooling and his corruption charges on it and his disastrous reelection ABOUT it didn't matter ? PA was and IS NOT his home state..he lives in VA. So the far right just over looked all this and now ponders what to do ? From the 1st link again.. Its very likely that hell end up the nominee, but hes not he nominee yet, said Steve Scheffler, president or the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition, about Romney. He was never my first choice, but Ill support him because the alternative is something we cant live with. But Im not ready to throw my support to him yet, Scheffler said. End.. I think its high time that Evangelical CHURCH leadership quits the war on Mormons...and joins with the rebuilding of America. Enjoy what a decent person does for a change..instead of what corrupt people PROMISE. Romney 2012 Jobs.. Jobs..Jobs..
And so what does ROMNEY SAY he wants to do ? http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/11/romney-plans-to-campaign-with-santorum/ "I expect when I finally become the nominee, and I hope that happens soon, that we'll be campaigning together, we'll be working together," Romney said on Fox News. "We share very much the same beliefs about the course the nation must take and the fact that under this president, America is not going in the right direction." Romney said he would attempt to attract Santorum's evangelical and socially conservative supporters by leveraging appearances with the former candidate. "We campaign together and make sure we see these people and get a chance to talk to them about issues that all Americans care about," Romney said. "I think you see our party and you will see our party more united than it's been in a long, long time, in part because President Obama has taken America in such a different course than we have ever gone as a nation before." End. Its called unification and building a strong AMERICA..not diversion and class war fare. Someone does get it..and I am NOT so sure a Evangelical candidate would be so FAST to reach out to non religious people OR different faiths in the same Manner. It seemed during their campaign they attacked everyone who WAS different than themselves.. As if their MAJORITY religious view could be crammed down upon America...from the TOP down...Government style V. faith based church individuality. I was worried America might eject this notion out right and just keep the current guy.. I dont think they will need to worry about that with Romney..he is already reaching out and within..
Well, Santorum is out and Romney will be the nominee. Their choice is clear. I don't think they'll vote for Obama and staying home is not an option this time, is it?
The cons have had three and a half years, and the best they could come up with is Romney. BWAH HA HA! Santorum even gave the dems an ad that sinks Mitt. "Romney is the worst republican to put up against Obama." And the cons war on women, war on education, war on the middle class and welfare for millionaires and big oil ARE LOSERS. Obama sucks, but Romney and the cons are the suckyest. No doubt about it, four more years.
So you look forward to four more years of a failing economy, horrible unemployment, record numbers not even participating anymore, tepid economic growth and deficits taking us down the road of Greece?
I do look forward to four more years of Obama as our president, but I don't believe any of that will happen. the sad thing is...if Obama IS elected, you will WANT all of that to happen, just to improve the GOP's chances in the next election cycle. THat has been the GOP tune all along since 2009... they want to see Obama fail, regardless of the cost to our nation. Party over country for the GOP... that's tantamount to treason by some folks' measure.
War on this and war on that...how lame and how untrue. But you wouldn't see that because you've got Obamawool over your eyes.
and to hope for national economic failure so that your party might benefit is exceptionally treasonous, in MY opinion.
Republicans are gonna sweep again just like they did in 2010. The democrats have done nothing since that election to make themselves look different than when the country threw them out in the midterm elections. People are still just as fed up with them as they were in 2010....bye bye
Of coarse the left didn't do any of that nonsense in the last few years of Bush now did they ? Want to know why gay rights, abortion issues, womans birth control, etc, are not at the forfront of a Romney campaign ? Because, it's not at the forfront of Americans campaign to get jobs going, to turn around this sinking ship of an economy, to halt the power grabs of a ever increasing government. You may want those issues at the forfront, but I assure you, they are the farthest from the minds of any sane citizen.
I know for certain that I never hoped for national economic failure during the Bush administration. I didn't really fault him too awfully much for his economic policies... I think that most democrats viewed his foreign policy as so abysmal that we needed to get him out of office. And I fully understand and agree that the economy has to be the primary issue for our nation to concentrate upon. But please spare me the self righteous assertions that would suggest that you above anyone else, have your finger on the pulse of America and know what is important to sane citizens. Our political debate can actually be about more than one thing... well, most of us, anyway, are capable of carrying on intelligent conversations about more than one topic. You? maybe not so much.
Turn off your television. None of that is real. You're being duped, and you're arrogantly prancing around as if you're proud of it.
the politcal/election isn't something you comprehend apparently....gay's and their families occupy a significant portion of the electorate(10%), annoy them or ignore their issues and they throw their electoral weight to whoever listens to them, the democrats...then there is that 50% of the population to whom birth control and abortion issues are front and center, again women will punish any party or person who challenges ownership of their bodies... it's safe to assume you won't be hired for a position as a electoral strategist...
Gays and their families care more about having jobs and eating than about pushing their respective agenda's. Obama has not improved anything therefore their priority's can only be met by the republicans. It may pain them to vote that way but they need to work and they will take the path of least resistance to attain that. That's republican.
I think it is possible to believe that your party is the best (maybe only) hope for your country and, in that regard, putting party over country is not treason. What definitely IS treason is kow-towing to power brokers and signing pledges (ala Republicans and Grover Norquist) before a congress even convenes. And making promises to make a president a one-termer by banking on his failure is also treason. We got a lot of traitors in this country.
The prioirity of most gay organisations remains the promotion of their rights. For most of them, that supersedes everything else including the economy. Just like the top agenda of the GOP is getting rid of BO and getting their own nominee the job instead of helping improve the economy. Just saying. Ironically, it is the Repulicans themselves with candidates like Santorum who have brought these other issues to the forefront in another election where the economy should have been the top priority.
Its still treason. If you believe that only your party can fix things, and are beyond corruptible, our country is (*)(*)(*)(*)ed. I vote for a candidate, not a party.
And you know that because.... Oh yeah. You heard it on the radio. The Romney/Ryan budget seeks to decimate social security and destroy medicaid. There's your war on the elderly. Romney himself said he would "get rid of" Planned Parenthood. There's your war on women The Romney/Ryan budget seeks to cut college education tuition assistance, grants, and loans plus Republicans, including Romney have called for the elimination of the Department of education. There's your war on education. and all of this while offering a trillion dollars in tax cuts to the 1%. There's your war and the "nation" you serve is the very wealthy.
HAHAHAHAHA Small 'C' "conservatives" may be stupid but people aren't. People remember that the Republican policies led to the market crash of 2008. People remember that Republican policies bought about the slowest job growth in half a century during the Bush years. People remember that Republican policies caused the meltdown of the financial industry in 2008. And People have watched Republicans in Congress over the last 3 years and on the campaign trail over the last 6 months. Scream and beat your chest all you want but whatever the Republican party was 30 years ago is dead and people know that.
Ain't that the truth. It is the same here in Canada. Just a few short months after the Republican historical annihilation of Dems in Nov 2010, a similar thing happened here in Canada...unprecedented and historically amazing. Our Liberal Party (read as Democratic Party in US) had always, since the founding of our country, had always been either the official opposition or leading the country. Just a few short months after your American bloodbath on Liberalism, we did the same. Liberals were literally kicked to the curb. Everyone sees their poisoned ideology for what it is, and what it has done.
Of course nothing could be further from the truth. I see you buy into soundbite politics without any thought. The government spent 28 trillion in the last ten years and Ryan's budget spend 40 trillion the next ten years compared to the dems plan of 47 trillion. Ryan proves you cannot do the responsible thing in Washington because of the useful idiots that believe everything their party tells them. At least one person in Washington is ready to tackle the tough problem and it isn't a dem.
whoa that was dumb post...a wonky electoral system awarded a (phoney)majority government to a party that had less than 40% of the vote...the progressive parties splitting 60% of the vote...
