I never believed it from the start. One thing that will happen I thought, was the gazillions of plants on earth detecting and absorbing the carbon dioxide naturally at a faster rate. Everything on earth are naturally protected. If there is too much sun, the wind and rain cools. Too much water, the water evaporates. If we are too hot, we perspire. Now did carbon dioxide, a product of our own breath has become a pollutant. Of course, natural disasters occur - hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamies and even icebergs separating from Antarctica. But global warming, cooling and these "disasters" have always happened. More and more, news reports are stating that the gloom and doom predictions of the global warming crowd are not materializing. Tell us if you think global warming is real or not and if you believed in it before and you don't now.
I believe in it, smarter people then myself have and are researching it. It only takes so many scientists to tell me something before I agree with their findings. The same goes for all the things science has shown us that I cannot personally see or experiance. I have never actually seen DNA but I believe the scientists when they say it is real.
Scientists seem to get really overjoyed when they think up a new way to destroy the planet. "Ohhh, the sun will explode.." "Ohh we'll all freeze to death because of GW.." "Ohh we'll all burn to death because of GW.." "Ohh the atmosphere will melt.." "Ohh giant asteroids will collide with earth.." "Ohh the moon will fall..." And they say all of this with the biggest smile on their faces
That's because they live on crisis. If there is no crisis and everything is alright, there would be no need for them. In most cases, everything is alright.
If earth 's climate was stable we would now jumping from tree to tree looking for bananas . It is a fact that there is a global warming like there will be a global cooling in the future since the engine that produces ice ages is still here , question is if and if yes then how much human activities influence those changes .
The big problem with global warming is that it is a political issue, not a scientific one. Temperatures aside, it is the cause of those temperatures that gains no agreement in the scientific community. Pure politics. It stinks.
According to the second law of thermodynamics CO2 cannot be a significant cause of global warming because it absorbs & transmits light in the infrared frequency range. Seems the Earth's surface is to warm to absorb light in the infrared frequency range but light in the visible & ultraviolet frequency range are energetic enough to be absorbed. There was a short period in which the earth temperatures rose. Thus appeared Al Gore and his doom and gloom theories. The scientists came up with theories on global warming and why. That is what they are paid to do. If they came up with a theory that said everything was alright, that is the end of their research and jobs. Politicians like Arnold Schwartzenegger and Barrack Obama tied their theory into policy. It is an expensive, policy at that. Now that the temperatures have not gone up as they predicted, they are coming up with new theories.
Well, if it's no problem, then we can ignore it and it will go away. Financial tip: If you own land in Florida...I'd start dumping now.
Global warming is not that hard to believe. Mankinds own failure to safe guardings its own planets resources which creates temprature change for the conclusion of mass death. Ie, humanity has treated the earth like an ashtray for centuries and now time to try and clean up.
It's funny how you did not give a solution. If you say the cars are to blame for global warming, your car should go first. The sun still shines, the wind still blows, the rain still pours and plants still grows. These are the things that you see happening. There are others that you don't see. How can too much carbon dioxide destroy these things?
Global warming has been 'proved' Which is why the corperations are busy setting up new bubbles for carbon trading. This is the world we live in. Scientific discovery maybe debated among the academics but any degree of 'truth' is quickly jumped on by the capitalists for profit ventures.
I actually think carbon trading is a fantastic idea. If carbon trading could get people rich while decreasing global warming, I see no good reason to oppose it. The problem is that there actually isn't enough corporate support. While there's undoubtedly some from Wall Street, the oil and coal companies are vehemently opposed to this kind of thing.
Yes both global warming & global cooling have been proven to historically occur in cycles but carbon dioxide has never been proven to be a significant global greenhouse gas.
How is it wrong? The scientists and their theories predate Al Gore and Al Gore coming up with his gloom and doom theories when the temperatures rose can't both happen? Whatever. Theories are correct. Nothing has been proven. Their predictions have gone the other way. The temperatures came down and stayed down.
The 2000s were the hottest decade on record. 2010 tied for the hottest year on record, and was the 34th consecutive year with global temperatures above the 20th century average. For the contiguous United States alone, the 2010 average annual temperature was above normal, resulting in the 23rd warmest year on record.
The thermometer only tells you the temperature at a specific point & time. It does not tell you what the cause of that temperature is. Rises in global temperature are associated with rises in carbon dioxide but what is debated is if the increases in temperature cause the rise in carbon dioxide or if it is the other way around or something in between.
Ignore it and it will go away is a great solution. When all these news reports come up with "will" instead of "could", "probably" and "believe", then we have something. I look for positive words in each and every news report that indeed, it would happen. They all contain words that show their uncertainty. Now that those predictions have not materialized, many are revising their worst case scenarios by at least half. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/14/s...sing-sea-levels-a-risk-to-coastal-states.html
The rain does not pour in a lot of places and these places are growing at an alarming rate. They are called deserts. There was a place in Africa called Lake Chad. They had large ships floating on its waters. It is now 1/20th of the size it was in 1963.
