As usual, we will ignore a problem with serious consequences for as long as possible, and then have to pay a much higher economic and political cost in trying to cope with the said consequences. Also as usual, the basket case countries will suffer much worse than the developed world, which will suffer quite a bit. You've got to love human nature.
There was a University of Auburn Prop. that used to do a program on PBS. It was basically a lecture program. The one that caught my attention was called The Closing Circle. It was a very interesting lecture baout how the "West" was in the center of a global circle as far as resources and food supply were concerned. He went on to explain how the "circle" is closing and what needs to be done to slow the closing of the circle. The leacture didn't mention Global Warming per say but he did mention the growing deserts and the problems faced by the third world. He also claimed that "western" countries would soon be faced with massive immigration from less dynamic countries because of lack of employment, food and water. We did not have an immigration problem then. It was over thirty years ago.
They found sea animal skeletons in Arizona, fossilized banana plants in Oregon. One thing we can count on with the earth is it changes.
You've got to be brain dead to believe that carbon dioxide is causing global warming but the need for energy independence & advancements in thorium fueled nuclear reactors will result in carbon dioxide emissions being capped by default.
Not to worry, the earth's environment changes in cycles. Sometimes it gets worse but then it gets better again, just hold out for that silver lining. Even the periodic global mass extinctions are thought to be caused by the regular orbit of a red dwarf star called Nemesis but life goes on. http://www.lbl.gov/Science-Articles/Archive/extinctions-nemesis.html
When the liberals came up with acid rain and the ozone layer being depleted, many listened. We should have ignored the problem.
