Let's be fair here - Jesus was a replacement for the Sun.

The christian religion is a parody on the worship of the Sun, in which they put a man whom they call Christ, in the place of the Sun, and pay him the same adoration which was originally paid to the Sun.

An Essay on the Origin of Free-Masonry (1803-1805); found in manuscript form after Paine's death and thought to have been written for an intended part III of The Age of Reason. It was partially published in 1810 and published in its entirety in 1818.

I see the 'sun' as a 'type' of and points to the rising & death of the Son of God, who is the perpetual fulfillment of the 'type.' Scripture states that "He was the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world"..i.e. He came 1st and was manifested in the flesh 'at the time picked by the Father to accomplish His purposes.'

Looks like you are wearing a pair of 'Son shades' and cannot see that fact...

[BTW, all other sun gods were imposters prior to His coming..but did point to that reality]

Tellingly, you don't deny being a liar. That will certainly make one notorious.

    LOL!!!

I see your present state of faith as just a big hole that you tip-toe around? You also 'pick & chose' as too what you want to believe...

Excellent point. We can include the various dying savior god religions as preparing the minds and hearts of men to receive "nature's God" in the flesh.

You don't address my question. What do you fear from the question?

We all pick and choose what we believe. The difference is what we base those choices on.

Guess I missed your question B4..

I'm always open to what God has to say or what He reveals as I read the scriptures & am open to illumination of them. Like I said in another post, "I dont have all the answers." But..I have had enuf things that have happened in my life to bolster the scriptures as I read them and not reject the total shud a questionable scripture arise that doesnt make sense to my mortal mind. As well as God has said that there are mysteries that we will not understand nor know until 'His times.'

An idol to me is something in stead of God....nothing in my life, including family, fits that bill...and the more 'things' that I accumulate, the less appreciation that I have for them...all being temporal.

To be in the Book of Life, one has to crucify the ego, and let He who came to save us from ourselves, fill us with His Logic/Word/Way.

Heh, so close to the truth. You only have things in reverse! Jesus was modeled after the Sun, his journey from virgin birth to death, resurrection and ascension being modeled after the Sun's course through the heavens, something the people of those times truly thought of as the Sun doing the moving, and not the Earth. Astrology was big back then - you hear of astrologers even in the bible, and the "wisemen" from the East who purportedly paid a visit to baby Jesus in his dark little manger were astrologers (for that was what it was to be "wise" back then). To clarify, the astrology of which I speak was not the modern fortune telling variant that has survived today, but rather the measurement of how the heavens move, which of course permitted the ancients to keep track of time, of years and so forth, for the very first time! Can you imagine what it would have been like at a time when keeping track of months and years was something brand new?

Of course, they also tied in a lot of mythology with what they were seeing, hence the zodiac, the other constellations, the names of the stars and planets, and of course all of the stories based around them. Perseus, the fellow who cut off the head of Medusa in a story, is a constellation still recognised by that name today. In the constellation, he is imagined as holding his sword and the head of Medusa. Now, check this out:

    [IMG] [IMG]

    1 Samuel 17:
45 David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.

50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.

51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword.

Back in the say, they made up stories like this for political reasons. Greek nobility were claiming Herculean heritage (yes, descendancy from the mythical son of Zeus!) in order to legiminise their claims to kingship), and here we have King David basically pulling a Perseus in an ancient Jewish tale. It would be very naïve to accept such a story as historical fact.

Turning back to Jesus and the gospel narrative, Jesus was the Sun both born and killed at Winter Solstice (and, of course, resurrected again 3 days later), and later ascended into the heavens at Spring Equinox following. He was also the solar hero of the Age of Pisces, hence the numerous fish and fishing references, as well as the water references. Another water reference came from Aquarius, of course, the Waterbearer, who was represented by John the Baptist in the story. Jesus met him in the Spring also; the first crossing of the Sun over the Ecliptic at Spring Equinox following its "birth" was the beginning of Jesus' ministry, and it is at this time of the year also when the Sun crosses through Aquarius, hence the handy dandy connection. Judas Iscariot was of course Scorpio, who gave Jesus the "Skorpion's Kiss" in Autumn, after the Sun had reached its peak at Summer Solstice and was descending again as darkness was gaining power.

But really, there is a whole lot more to all of this that would be far too much for me to explain in a post! So, as ever, I offer this link:

    http://www.usbible.com/usbible/astrology.htm

It's a BIG site, LOTS of info to study and take in. For the most part, though, therein lies the truth of the origins of many if not all of the Bible's narratives. Jesus called his upcoming 3-day death the "sign of Jonah" - you'll recall that Jonah was in the belly of the whale (there's a whale constellation as well; its name is Cetus, and it's in the southern sky) for 3 days. The 3 days are how long the Sun appears to stop moving, i.e. it stops descending in the southern sky. Then it begins to ascend again, hence it is "reborn." To a bunch of geocentric-thinking flat-earthers, these solar movements would not have made logical sense, but they had their superstitions to explain what was happening, hence stories like the Gospel. Moses, too, was a solar hero:

    http://www.usbible.com/Astrology/moses_sun_signs.htm
From my boyhood days, I remember a Disney cartoon, called "Johnny Appleseed." It was a local Pennsylvania legend that explained why Pennsylvania had so many apple orchards. The story traces the adventures of a man named Johnny Appleseed who went around the state planting apple seeds.

The life of Moses has a similar purpose. When Jewish children ask their elders where their religion and culture came from, they can tell them all about Moses. This report demonstrates that the biography of Moses can be explained as a solar myth that follows the path of the sun around the zodiac.

Actually worshipping idols is a sin, if you trust what the Bible states. A person can become blinded by worshipping the wrong things; money, power, false authority, and self-rightiousness. False prophets also come to mind.
"...a man will come to the end of himself;..." may also mean, that a man has to face himself in the presence of God, for he cannot hide his sins and trespasses from God. I believe that the old saying, a man's life passes before his eyes before dying, is true. How rightious a man has lived his life is his/her testament to God.
If in doubt, fall back on the Ten Do's and Don'ts.
Christ tells us to enjoy our lives, but to keep His Father in our hearts and keep His word Holy. If you keep it simple, and treat others as you would Jesus, you cannot go wrong.

Denying that I am a liar is not necessary, because you have not been able to point out a lie that I have told. On the other hand, it is your integrity that is in question. None of the nefarious claims you have made against me have been supported by any kind of 'EVIDENCE' ... Just continual accusations and nothing more. Your arguments about me are pathetic.

My idol is myself. I am the most decent, honest person I've ever known or heard about. I certainly wish others could be more like me. It would have benefited Yahowah greatly had I been around in the old days to advise Him.

Don't get me wrong. I would not help Yahowah now. He has committed far too many acts of evil against my homeplanet Earth. But if I could have only been there at the beginning... to give Him better advice, I see the relationship between man and God turning out completely different. But it's far too late. When or if He returns, war with Him will be the only item on my agenda.

The sad thing, Inc, is that there are actually some ppl out there that act that way, with an attitude of...."if I were God I wouldnt have done it that way." And have the gall to 'question God as to His motives & His righteousness!'

Better that than giving Yahweh a pass.

But what's it matter? His 'revelations' in the Bible are all redacted, and yet still wrong as well! I for one am quite glad that the angry vengeful old bugger doesn't exist. I wouldn't want to kiss his so-called 'divine' arse to get into Heaven anyway.

This is a self fulfilling prophecy as you define an idol as anything that is not the one you have already chosen, in your case, God.

You also make it clear that your only source for increased knowledge is scripture. Inductive study is also self fulfilling, as it uses scripture to prove itself. Do you do any secular study of scripture, of it's history, or of other faith traditions?

I agree, it is a 'sad thing' but hey, even some sad things can have an element of humor involved... ya know .... like how we sometimes find our selves laughing at the irony of a situation.

Now that is quite an extraordinary claim that you have made. Where is the proof that "God did it"? Are you admitting now that God does exist and that God is responsible for many things on this Earth? WOW! I sure hope you are.

Show any evidence for your claim that I was removed from ministry as you claimed or admit you are a liar.

As once showing interest in the alternatives, the history of the early church fathers, Josephus writings, etc. , I found that most of the secularists had 'an axe to grind,' and just as you saw in those trying to make out Jesus & Paul as homosexuals, their writings were but self-authored propaganda..with a 'cause' to define as fact.

Why would I want to go to Marx and Hitler's writings for the 'truth?' And as scripture says in James 1:8, "Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do."

I'm not blown around by the wind nor tossed by the seas......you can snipe that statement as you will..
