"Chick-fil-A has pledged to stop giving money to anti-gay groups and to back off political and social debates after an executive’s comments this summer landed the fast-food chain smack in the middle of the gay marriage debate."

Chick-fil-A said in the missive that its nonprofit arm, the WinShape Foundation, “is now taking a much closer look at the organizations it considers helping, and in that process will remain true to its stated philosophy of not supporting organizations with political agendas,” according to The Civil Rights Agenda.

The restaurant firm also promising to amend an official company document to reflect that its “intent is not to engage in political or social debates,” according to TCRA.

The document, called “Chick-fil-A: Who We Are,” will also state that the chain will “treat every person with honor, dignity and respect -- regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation and gender.” The company took a similar stance this summer, as politicians, celebrities and customers around the country began taking sides.

So did the boycott beat the “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” movement by Mike Huckabee?

They just lost this customer. Not because of their stance, but because they caved.

Its a start though it would be much better if they just went out of business.

It is generally better if companies avoid taking a position on any divisive issue. So the new policy of shutting the hell up should have been the old policy. I was very surprised by their sheer stupidity.

I doubt they capitulated, since they actually made record-breaking profits as a result of the gay McCarthyists' intolerance and bigotry toward Christiansmand the pro-freedom crowd patronizing them in droves.

It probably had to do with the AFA spokesperson making some comment that children adopted by gay couples should be kidnapped, because some of the groups that Chick-Fil-A donated to were affiliated with the AFA - my guess is that Chick-Fil-A probably thought that those comments were too far out there.

I don't think it was the boycott because I've yet to drive by a ChikFilA that wasn't packed. Their revenue was up.

Maybe it was the fact that the CEO is actually a Christian and was presented with additional information on the Exodus program and wanted to change their position.

lol, they won't be going out of business anytime this century dude. They literally made world-record setting profits on Chick-Fil-A day.

But if the gay mafia hadn't offended the American people with their intolerance, those world-record shattering profits never would've occured, so thanks, we couldn't have done it with you. ;)

The claim about the Exodus program endorsing Uganda's criminalizing of homosexuality was actually liberal spin though - because Exodus International openly condemned the Ugandan law. I don't recall exactly, but I think at one point Exodus sent some spokesperson of theirs to speak at some Christian conference in Uganda against homosexual marriage where other Ugandan Christian figures who were in favor of the law were also present, but they never supported the anti-gay law, and openly condemned it after it was passed.

Honestly this is just stating what they did. It still does not stop an executive from making a personal comment and having a Chik-Fil-A day 2.0.

The company itself did nothing but profit and the company itself did nothing that could be viewed wrong. A person made a comment and that is all.

There isn't even one in NJ...So it matters not to me. Not like I'd eat there anyway. Cluck-U chicken likely smokes it in every catagory!

 If your business only caters to a dedicated customer base who all feel exactly like you do you might get away with it...national fast food chain...not good business.
CEO's should never talk anything but business.

There are not too many businesses like that! Clearly, a gun shop can be pro gun. And a Christian bookstore can take some liberties in terms of what they openly support. But for most companies it's better to shut the hell up and sell chicken or whatever.

If it matters not to you, then why would you wish (in vain) for them to go out of business?

I didn't think it was the boycott either so you may be right. More than likely it'll end up being for some financial reason. What that might be hasn't materialized yet.

I meant trying to turn gay people straight. It hurt a lot of people who couldn't do it.

I think I saw them in Newark, not far from the Airport. Never saw one down the "shore".

    Your post is retarded...

Who caved, the person who said it (that was against gays) or the company who had nothing to do with the agenda of that "one" person... Do you say America is stupid or Obama is stupid?

See now how retarded your post is? Do you...? If you need some more help understanding - I am here for you...

If the butt bandits had just chosen not to eat there and let all their liberal buddies know not to eat there, they would've hurt Chick-Fil-A's profits. But they weren't content with that, and tried to bully the business with the mayor of Chicago trying to ban Chick-Fil-a, the gay groups harrassing Chick-Fil-A employees with their "slobberfests", etc - their McCarthyist tactics pissed off freedom-loving Americans and caused their plan to backfire big time with their record-setting profits. Hope the liberals finally got it thru their heads that their hate and intolerance doesn't pay, lol
