I don't disagree with the rest of what you said but just a small correction, the US is only 4.46% of the world population. I'm unsure of the percentage of resources used. 85% doesn't sound accurate. I know the numbers were not relevant to the point you were making but I still feel they were important enough to correct as it emphasizes the fact that the US isn't powerful or important simply because it has lots of people. It's powerful and important because it has or at least has had the best environment for people to become exceptional.
