Lets make it simple and look at this from the very thing were debating, the npr report;

1. How about this, the OP clearly states that there were not enough assets in the area. It states there was no order to stand down.
2. It then states that officials, ie the experts, decided on the uselessness of either large bomb dropping or drones eye views.
3. No one is interested in your whining opinion of the MSM. They didnt take birther stories seriously either.
4. The truth is, this npr story proves that you guys have no case. It undermines rather supports your own argument that something could have been done.

 

Several low flying F16s over Benghazi above the speed of sound would have given the attackers something to think about other than raping our ambassador with a knife.

 

You might be accurate if it wasn't for the fact Obama has the record for lowest US casualty war under his belt (since cons insisted on calling what we did in Libya a war).

It is a lie.

Within about two hours we could have had close air support over Benghazi. There were high performance aircraft and possibly an AC-130U available.
Within about two hours we could have had armed Predators over Benghazi. They patrol over the chemical warfare sites in Libya and could have been diverted.
Within about two hours we could have had American boots on the ground to secure the Consulate, the CIA Annex and other important sites in Benghazi.
We know we have allies in the region. Did we ask the Italians for assistance? How about the Turks?

I do not believe it. Fox News reporting in the days afterwards specifically referenced a source that heard the requests and the denials. I believe her report coming days after the murders to a regime puppet telling us this after the regime's lies have fallen apart.

The only large bomb droppings are coming from the Washington politicians. Have you seen drone camera footage? How is it that we can manage to kill people on Obama's hit list in Pakistan but not in Libya? Do you believe that we would need to drop large bombs to break up an attack of roughly 20 men (that is what was reported - I believe the total force was likely to be between 100 and 150 men)?

How about a small amount of cannon fire? Or for that matter one or two of the smallest JDAM? I believe they come in sizes as small as 250 pounds.

Do you have so little intellectual honesty that you do not want the murder of an ambassador, his information officer and two former Navy SEALS to be a big story? How did the president get his Middle East policy so wrong? How did the State Department have such a huge failure of will? They refused to protect an American Ambassador, our Consulate and four employees. They knew of the dangers and they refused to provide adequate security. How did the intelligence community miss this? All of those are important stories.

One would expect state-owned media to tow the party line. Pravda did no less for the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

 

This all that Obama had to allow, and that mortar would have been toast. Two American "bumps in the road" would still be alive.

This is also the reason for the hold-up at the airport of CIA officers attempting to reach the hospital where Stevens was. Of course, standing down to airport officials is uncalled for, but unless one knows that their plan can be implemented as designed, the risk to the operatives' lives, among other forms of collateral damage is too great.
