So it is cool for the white kids to further diddle the rules in their favor. Go it.

Nothing wrong with showing pride in your country.
I realize of course as a liberal you wouldn't understand.

I'd like to see progressive leftists drop all pretense, and simply label their useful idiots "Victimized-Americans"
    (instead of African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Undocumented-Americans, Muslim-Americans, Gay-Americans, blah, blah, blah.....)

    It would really simplify things....

Good thing they weren't wearing shirts with firearms depicted to go with the bandanas!
The cops may have been called due to a terroristic threat!

    More ridiculous everyday.

It's totally relevant. You don't want to think it is because it blows your argument.

Most of the mexicans kids referred to in the op were probably born here. Their parents came here for a better standard of living while remaining mexicans. There is no need for mexicans in california to become anglo oriented culturally.

Garbage like chanting "USA" as a way to taunt an opposing high school basketball team. Pay attention.

Being American is a legal technicality. Their hearts are in Mexico. To them the mexican culture is warm and inviting. They don't want to be gringos. Gringos are their enemies.

Context: The circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed.

A ten year old could see thru what these teens were doing. And it isn't the first time this type of story has appeared..

This is America, it was an American school so they should have all been American so what's the problem? And on the grounds that chanting USA could have been inflammatory is redundant in a world of pc where anything and everything is inflammatory and offensive. Get over it.

Not one person has explained how a countries name, in any context, is offensive.

Can we also agree then, that the word "potato" , in the right context, is offensive as well?

Because both teams were American high schools with American team members.
Chanting USA for the team made up of white students as if they were the American team implies the other team made up primarily of Hispanic ethnicity was not an American team. This is taunting and disrespectful to America as a whole.

It is just a way to bring race baiting into a high school basketball game. It about motive and intent, not the name of a country.

Like I stated, this has happened before at school sporting events which involved schools with a primary make up of students with Hispanic ethnicity.

"USA" can be offensive to people who conceive of themselves as living in opposition to the anglo culture. "USA" means gringos. Gringos are not hermanos.

Yes, it in fact can be very offensive, especially in the 1900's if used towards the Irish.

Ok, noted. Potato is VERY offensive.

Now, how about the word "pizza" ?
