    My mistake...

I was reading another similar story and got sidetracked...

However, my point remains the same...

From the picture I would guess that a couple of those kids were Hispanics themselves.

Wouldn't that throw the Nanny State crowd into a tailspin?

I think you're diluting the word "traitor".

Brainwashing kids in the lib public schools to hate America comes pretty close to Quisling-ism in my opinion.

I certainly welcome and appreciate your opinion and I won't say you're wrong.

In my opinion however, the word should be reserved for active assistance to an official enemy.. Suchas providing AQ with weapons or intel etc.

The more we encompass into the meaning the less meaning it has.

Punish kids who are chanting "USA!" is pure insanity. And taking away a right to investigate if there's something nefarious about it is insanity. This is a case of sorry ass liberal PC gone wild, nothing more.

But I will clarify further: If kids are chanting "USA!", they should be given the benefit of the doubt until there is evidence to support some other conclusion. Anyone who is bothered by a "USA!" chant should not be catered to nor appeased in any way.

I disagree. It is the school administrators job to provide a safe enviroment for students. If they believe students are being puposely inflamitory (which they obviously were) and in doing so could cause an unsafe situation then it is thier job to intervene.

And anyways, they werent even punished or suspended.

What makes you say they "obviously" were being inflammatory?

What could possibly make you think I was suggesting that? I think you need to reread all my posts in this thread. You fell off the wagon somewhere along the way.

Yes, but kids in public schools don't have the same free speech rights as adults if it conflicts with school policy and expectations of good behavior. Obviously.

You can't teach a troll anything. It's useless to try and a waste of valuable time.

Legal immigration is only useful to the extent it benefits Americans. Illegal immigration is never good for the American people.

If the other team was largely Hispanic, then they could easily counter by dawning there own American Flag shirts, bandanas, shorts, patches, etc... it would defuse the situation in the most positive way possible. Nope, instead FREE SPEECH is trampled on for the sake of the P.C. Liberal Education Crowd. All they did was inflame these kids who were chanting further instead of teaching them that the Latino kids were just as much American as them... assuming there are citizens.

Well, a couple of things. Per the article i provided on page 1, it appears other racist and inflammatory comments were being yelled at the Rio Mesa Sideline other than the USA chants. Secondly, it seems pretty obvious that boisterous chanting of USA and pointing at the mostly hispanic Rio Mesa sideline was inflammatory. Not saying it worked.. but it obviously was. You think they would chant that at the mostly white high school down the street? I dont. Lastly, the kid basically admitted it in his interview per the article.

They probably didn't come to the game in anticipation of needing to prove thier patriotism to a bunch of smart ass high school kids. It wasn't free speech trampling, it was a school admin trying to diffuse a potential problem situation. The guy who did it even said he wasnt sure if it was racist or not but that its a heated rivalry and the situation needed to be controlled. Its that simple. Im sure wing nuts will continue to see godless lib boogeymen around every corner though. They are a dramatic bunch.

This intentionally shallow and obtuse reasoning explains better than anything why certain Americans have trouble getting good jobs.

    They came from AMERICA!!!

Where in the story does it say anyone was offended? The on-scene administrators concluded the kids were taunting the other team and behaving like jerks. why are so many of you so offended by high school administrative discipline?

Now the team can be prepared. The best answer is to fight fire with fire... they could have simply joined the chant for the win. Nope, we have Liberals actually telling kids that they cannot be Patriotic. This is small minds unable to think of an appropriate, yet diffusing response.

Liberals are pathetic and dense. They must have power and control, they can't simply think outside the box to diffuse it and still allow the students the right to Free Speech and Patriotism.

Racist undertones because of the large number of Hispanics?

    Hispanics are not Americans?

    What are they then?

I'm sorry but my question was where does it say anyone was offended? You seem to think that was the problem. But your quote from the story only shows the principal suspected her students were acting like jerks. And she has a lot more credibility here since she was there.

Since when is the USA and American patriotism race related?

    WTF.

Even if they do have a lot of Mexican born students, if they are offended by patriotism, then they need to pack their (*)(*)(*)(*) and head back south.

This kind of (*)(*)(*)(*) is ridiculous.
