So much hatred by putative Christians towards all atheists.

What is clear is that, despite being religious, you have no qualms about being deceitful. Or, perhaps your reasoning is simply clouded. So allow me to clear this up for you.

There is no 'atheist ideology'. There are some ideologies that require you to ALSO be an atheist.

You're welcome. Hopefully you will stop stating untruths now.

If Communists are being counted as atheists, should Imperialists be counted as theists?

I'm sure theists would rather avoid opening that can of worms...

Good question. What does the Imperialist Manifesto have to say about this?

Cool. How does that matter at all? I don't agree at all with their completely separate political ideology. Their actions spread from this ideology, not Atheism. Not believing in God doesn't necessitate anything.

I think it may in fact be the same document as the Atheist Doctrine. It's certainly exactly the same length.

Oh but you are wrong. Not believing in God necessitates that you do anything and everything to rid the world of believers who will speak up against you.

Well no because not a few imperialists were atheists. For example Jules Ferry, an atheist, was one of the most important French imperialists. Remember the Age of Imperialism coincided with the golden age of materialism/atheism. Many in the European upper class had read Voltaire or Gibbon or later on Nietzsche and hated Christianity! Anti-Christian pseudo-science surrounding Darwinism also animated many racists and imperialists. (I accept evolution by the way.)

Looks like I've happened upon an extensive nest of internet atheists. Hear them shriek when light strikes their pale thin skins!

Not much for me to respond to - just hysterical accusations.

As always Giftedone is desperate to embarrass himself, quoting John J. Robinson a zany self-taught "historian" and conspiracy theorist.

The thing is that American fundamentalists and other extremists know nothing about Christianity - they just want to hate and spite people, like little girls forming a gang just to keep others out. Nullities, the lot of 'em.

Communist atheists in only 80 years killed about 94 million! And the number of deaths caused by atheism is much higher. An atheist, Stalin, along with his fellow Christian-hater Hitler started the worst war in human history. And don't forget all the deaths caused by right wing atheists like Mussolini, who was in part inspired by another blood-thirsty atheist Nietzsche. And don't forget the Armenian genocide, committed by secular fanatics: the Young Turks.

Please also remember that the austere atheist philosophy has never attracted a large number of believers. Under 3% of the world population is atheist. So a small number of atheists are responsible for a tremendous amount of carnage. On a per capita basis atheists are by far the worst murderers in human history.

Many embrace atheism because they won't accept any limits on their behavior. Some atheists yearn to use and discard women, murder, torture, sink into depravity.

    1. Mussolini - Historian Denis Mack Smith wrote that Mussolini believed: "Science had proved that God did not exist and the Jesus of history was an ignorant Jew whose family thought him mad... Religion, he said, was a disease of the psyche, an epidemic to be cured by psychiatrists, and Christianity in particular was vitiated by preaching the senseless virtues of resignation and cowardice." Mussolini even wrote a pamphlet entitled God does not exist.

    2. Stalin - Responsible for millions tortured, imprisoned, starved, shot. Learn about the Holodomor HERE.

    3. Pol Pot - Genocidal dictator of Cambodia.

    4. Peter Singer - One of the world's most influential philosophers, Utilitarian Peter Singer is a professor at Princeton.

quote: Singer argues that it should be legal for parents to decide to have their disabled infants killed up to 28 days after birth.

    5. Ayn Rand

quote: Her diaries from that time, while she worked as a receptionist and an extra, lay out the Nietzschean mentality that underpins all her later writings. The newspapers were filled for months with stories about serial killer called William Hickman, who kidnapped a 12-year-old girl called Marion Parker from her junior high school, raped her, and dismembered her body, which he sent mockingly to the police in pieces. Rand wrote great stretches of praise for him, saying he represented "the amazing picture of a man with no regard whatsoever for all that a society holds sacred, and with a consciousness all his own. A man who really stands alone, in action and in soul. … Other people do not exist for him, and he does not see why they should." She called him "a brilliant, unusual, exceptional boy," shimmering with "immense, explicit egotism." Rand had only one regret: "A strong man can eventually trample society under its feet. That boy [Hickman] was not strong enough."

    6. & 7. Leopold & Loeb - Inspired by Nietzsche, they felt superior men such as themselves should create their own moral values. They committed what they thought was the perfect crime.

    8. Marquis de Sade - He enjoyed torturing underage prostitutes.

    9. Herman Kahn - He wrote calmly of mass nuclear horror and enjoyed playing God.

I don't believe in a god or gods.....and feel no necessity to do anything about it....there , you are in error...although I hardly expect a believer to stop lying and admit they're wrong.

What believer has told a lie that needs to be confessed to? What about the non-believers that tell lies??? Don't they also need to stop telling lies? A declaration made without proof of claim can be perceived as a lie.

You are still in error: This time the error was telling a non-truth. You stated that you "feel no necessity to do anything about it.", yet you did do something.... you posted on this forum and exercised your right to free speech and declared that "I hardly expect a believer to stop lying and admit they're wrong. " The thing you did is call all believers liars and you have not proven that any one of those believers have told a lie.

Most human beings don't appreciate being smeared as putative murderers.

I am still shocked at all the hate directed at those of us who chose not to believe what Deists have demanded that we believe.

    ?? How so

A lack of a belief in something by definition doesn't necessitate anything other than the rejection of that belief. All I'm doing is saying that I do not find the claim that there exists a supernatural deity unjustified given the evidence before me.

I don't believe in God and I am perfectly fine with you speaking your mind, even when you're wrong and insulting like here. In fact, I'd die for your right to believe what you want - it's a basic human right.

    Do you honestly believe this?

Spanish Conquistadores murdered American Indians for dog food. They murdered infants to feed their dogs. To say nothing of enslaving and murdering many thousands, if not millions, of Indians.

It is a shame they've been forgotten, but remember that Christianity was equally responsible for African slavery in the United States. It was rationalized as being black people's rightful place due to the "curse of Ham" that marked them for slavery.

Plus, the Bible is replete with mentions of slavery, which were often used for justification.

Again, the Conquistadores. Additionally, the Puritans justified their taking of Indian land in New England as part of YHWH's plan via YHWH spreading disease among the Indians. Hell, every European nation that engaged in colonialism justified their brutality with Christianity. It's not that hard to find.

The Ku Klux Klan is explicitly Christian.

The Old Testament and St. Paul have something to say against that.

The main belligerents were all Christian outside of the Ottoman Empire. And there were plenty of atheists who were demanding an end to the war, too.

A lot of the Nazis were Christians, and there were a lot of atheists fighting against the Nazis, too.

There are Christian Communists and many anti-Communist atheists in the world.

You realize there's such a problem in East Timor because of its colonial history, right? And the colonizers were Portuguese Christians.

    Pretty much everyone's done that.

Oddly enough, mostly atheist nations with very relaxed abortion laws tend to have low abortion rates.

Why do atheists have such a uniquely awful human rights record? Is it just a massive coincidence?! Or is there something about atheism that leads to mass murder?

    1) Atheism = materialism. The materialist superstition diminishes man - man becomes just a sack of chemicals. If we are just a sack of chemicals why do we deserve rights or merit dignity?

    2) Atheists in the West tend to be upper class, male, white - including many oppressors, many among the elite. If this elite is to retain its privileges it must oppress working people and People of Color.

    3) Some atheists reject reliigon, even hate religion because they want to escape ethical rules.

Wait did you just link to some fraternity?! Are you joking? Atheists accept any source, no matter how ridiculous if it confirms their prejudices.

Wrong. Here's Pulitzer prize winner Jared Diamond: Infectious diseases introduced with Europeans, like smallpox and measles, spread from one Indian tribe to another, far in advance of Europeans themselves, and killed an estimated 95% of the New World's Indian population.

The slave-traders, the rich in Europe by this time were often extremely hostile to religion. And not a few of the slave traders were Jewish.

Of course for Christians Jesus' teachings are paramount.

False. This was the golden age of atheism! Many in the ruling class were anti-Christian. For example Georges Clemenceau, the French leader, was an atheist!

Atheist Communists were good at forming alliances with the Nazis. You've heard of the Hitler-Stalin Pact?

Marxism-Leninism is of course fanatically atheist.

Only a bigot desperate to smear Christians would blame Christians rather than the Indonesians who actually carried out the massacres.

Not the Israeli militarists who bomb Palestinian civilians and torture Palestinian children. The Israeli Zionists are one of the most atheist populations on earth.

Atheist nations are good at one thing - disappearing. The atheist-prone nations have astonishing low birthrates and are halfway out the door.

Here's the rabid leaders of the "new atheism":

Atheist Christopher Hitchens has condemned Moslems because they have sinned against secularism. He demonizes religious folk to justify their murder. He aches to kill even without provocation.

quote: It is impossible to compromise with the proponents of sacrificial killings of civilians, the disseminators of anti-Semitic filth, the violators of women and the cheerful murderers of children.
It is also impossible to compromise with the stone-faced propagandists for Bronze Age morality: morons and philistines who hate Darwin and Einstein and managed, during their brief rule in Afghanistan, to ban and erase music and art while cultivating the skills of germ warfare. If they could do that to Afghans, what might they not have in mind for us? In confronting such people, the crucial thing is to be willing and able, if not in fact eager, to kill them without pity before they get started.

    LINK

Sam Harris has called for a nuclear first strike against the Islamic world.

quote: Harris, echoing the blood lust of Hitchens, calls, in his book The End of Faith, for a nuclear first strike against the Islamic world. He defends torture as a logical form of interrogation. He, like all utopians, has reduced millions of human beings and cultures he knows nothing about to primitive impediments to his vision of a better world.
"What will we do if an Islamist regime, which grows dewy-eyed at the mere mention of paradise, ever acquires long-range nuclear weaponry?" Harris asks. "If history is any guide, we will not be sure about where the offending warheads are or what their state of readiness is, and so we will be unable to rely on targeted, conventional weapons to destroy them. In such a situation, the only thing likely to ensure our survival may be a nuclear first strike of our own.

    Not really.

For example some of the atheist-prone pro-abortion East European nations have very high abortion rates.

    Unlimited abortion in Russia?

The first is very likely to lead to the second, but they are NOT the same thing. It is dishonest of you to claim that they are.

I'm not sure every materialist will agree that we are "just" sacks of chemicals. A hard disk surface may superficially appear to be JUST a thin layer of cobalt oxide. The patterns of magnetism on the surface however, give it meaning, and suddenly the hard disk is full of programs and information. Similarly, humans are superficially JUST sacks of chemicals, but the patterns of electrical impulses in the brain are much more important.

Also, if he IS just a sack of chemicals, then calling a spade a spade isn't "diminishing" anything.

Am I reading this right? You're insinuating a direct causal link between atheism and racism? If you can produce any reliable figures showing atheists in the west overall with higher proportion of racists than non-atheists, I'll eat my hat.

Yes, and some atheists have mustaches. And some atheists like ice cream. And some atheists want to go for a nice long walk on the beach. What a wishy-washy, meaningless, half-assed attempt at a smear.
