One again Obama using envy and jealousy to present his proposal for higher taxes. He stated today the it's time for the wealthy to BEGIN paying their "fair share", meaning they have NOT been paying their "fair share".

First of all he got his tax increase on the wealthy that was suppose to make them pay their "fair share", the Clinton tax rates. Now he claims they have never paid their "fair share".

This is not about FICA taxes which the lowest income groups don't pay anyway. This is about the general revenues, the budget deficit, the operating budget.

We all know that the top 1% of earners pay almost 40% of those taxes. The top 20% pay almost 80% of those taxes. The bottom 50% pay virtually nothing when it comes to those taxes.

Once and for all, all the people who agree with Obama that that is not their fair share, that the bottom 50% is somehow paying too much of that share please state clearly and concisely how much IS their "fair share" and why paying 40% and 80% is NOT enough to be their "fair share".

I will bet right now that none will dare venture to say.

Hey, don't forget, he wants to cap your IRA at a maximum of $3 million too. That's all you need, you don't need any more than that.

This is the term that Obama says constantly that really pisses me off. Instead of saying something to the effect of, "We Americans could use some more help with taxes from those that are more blessed than others in America". Instead, he choice words like "fair share", or "they have been getting rich off the backs of hard working Americans for too long".

That is why he is the most divisive piece of (*)(*)(*)(*) to ever hold the office of the presidency. Obama is a disgrace to our nation

    Huh?

If you work and earn $100 per year, you pay FICA taxes.

In the very first lines, you say "Obama using envy and jealousy". As I don't typically like to talk about specific nations, I just have to point out that this seems extremely bias. Just to clarify, what (or who) exactly is Obama being envious and jealous towards?

The first thing we should do is put every present and retired federal official, president, and congressman on Obamacare. That would be a start.

    EITC............

Now if the highest earners aren't paying their "fair share" at the percentage of taxes they are paying now what would be their "fair share"?

Their fair share has nothing to do with what percent of tax receipts they pay as a group.

Well yes it is, Obama says they are not paying their "fair share of taxes" that means their percentage of the taxes paid.

So if the highest earners, the top 1% are paying 40% of those taxes as their share of those taxes and that is not their "fair share" of those taxes how much of them should they be paying?

They don't seem to quite understand the EITC thingy....which (last I checked) could "refund" up to $5,666.00 MORE than one remitted throughout the tax year. Making EITC nothing more than a wage subsidy transfer payment....or, to remove all pretense, welfare with no stigma attached

To communists those who have invested time and money into themselves, those who have worked hard to get above average wages will always been seen as not paying their fair share. To a commi any capitalist will be seen as such - another round of propaganda coming up

It's simple really. Compare what the bottom 50% pay in taxes plus on survival as a percentage of their income. {I bet this will come close to 100%.} To what the top 50% pay in taxes plus on survival and see if it equals out. I bet the top 20% of earners don't even spend 1% of their income on surviving while the bottom 50% of earners spend almost 100% of their money on rent, food, car, utilities, surviving.

Fair is that those who don't need the money to survive on should spend more on taxes so that those who do need all their cash just to survive won't have to.

Another way of looking at it why should people starve to death living on the streets pay more in taxes when the rich who don't need the money to survive on get more tax breaks?

What we have here is a battle to own the terminology, because people think in words. "Fair" is a powerful word, because it polarizes people into the fair and the unfair, and nobody wants to be unfair.

And it's nice to direct the implication of "unfair" at "the rich", because we all know that "the rich" is anyone with a lot more money than we have, and how come they get to have it when they're no better than we are, huh?

It's boring to try to say something like "in order to fund all of the benefits and other goodies we have voted ourselves, we need a whole lot of money, which can only come from those who HAVE money - the rich, and the Chinese."

Of course, this is experienced as a problem by most people, only during economic down times. When the economy is healthy and growing nicely, plenty of money rolls into government coffers. If times get good enough fast enough, we can even eliminate the deficit for a few days before Congress wakes up and we vote ourselves even MORE benefits and other goodies.

ah so basically if you make too much money you should have to give it in taxes until you are scrounging like everyone else correct? by your standards nobody should be able to live in a $10million dollar home because by your ideology they dont need that. Nope, if they make $3million a year they should be taxed so they can only have $50K to work with correct? because its not fair if they have an easier life.

thats the basic gist of your logic correct?

What does this 'fair share' accomplish? What do the so called victims of society learn when they get paid by the productive? Just wondering...

The tax on $100 would be $3.50.

But in most cases that person will get a full refund through the Earned Income Tax Credit so their federal tax is zero.

It is Obama voters who are not paying their fir share.

Its the divisive speech that is so disturbing. Liberals hated Bush, but he never spoke like this. He was never so specific in attacking people like this. Whats that about Chicago politics?
