As far as i am concerned gay marriage in a christian society is nnot happenning.
Why did the Angel of death destroy Sodom and Gommorrah or did the people who are for this bond not understand or ignore this messsge in the BIBLE.

 

Yet gay marriage is happening.

Because it makes absolutely no sense, and doesn't say anything about the government denying citizens basic human rights.

Define for us what constitutes a "Christian society". If we're talking about the USA, it is majority "Christian", but beliefs and practices vary widely within that majority. And the minority who are not Christian still have rights, whether Christians like it or not.

As for the Bible gobbledy-gook, it's not a matter of not understanding or ignoring. It's a matter of not believing and refusing to be ruled by the beliefs of others in out own conscience.

I find the religious outrage about homosexuality odd, since Jesus never even mentions it. To listen to some conservatives you would think that Jesus went around telling everyone "Beware the Queer"- but who did Jesus condemn? Adulterers- of any kind- and those who would divorce their wives and remarry- because that would be adultery.

 

dude, marriage is a crock regardless of gender anyways. divorce rate is sixty percent not includin the numbers from the same-sex side. it's sad and it sucks, but it's a crock. that particular traditional value doesn't really exist happily as it use to... if it ever really did. why you think they invented the prenupt.?

 

As an atheist, I don't really follow anything the bible says, but even by a bible-based standard, homophobia is simply a 'holy' way of oppressing others. Please, the bible isn't god's word, and even if it was, I wouldn't be worshipping such a morally messed up god as yours.

Anyway, are you sure you want to base your argument against gay marriage on an old religious legend?

 

As long as we don't have adultery laws trying to tell us we must be married, I know I won't be worrying about how outdated marriage is. People are free to date and relate without tying the knot, social and familial expectations aside.

The Bible is pretty clear on why they were destroyed, i.e., they were having unnatural sex with everything that moved. The Bible's pretty clear on sex being a man and woman thing, within a faithful marriage.

 

Refusing to alter the definition of marriage isn't denying anyone a right to marry. Gays are free to marry, but since they're not attracted to members of the opposite sex, they have typically avoided it. That's their choice. No rights denied.
