No kidding. I never knew of this event until he piped up to say he wasn't going. Strange, he likes going to repressive nations like China and Iran so what's his beef anyhow?

It's not front-page stuff in my paper. I just surfed the cable networks, no mention there. It's less dominating the headlines and probably more dominating the minds of the usual gang who see any snub of Israel, even something relatively minor as this, as some mountain rather than the molehill it really is.

Those two? The usual collection of Liberal Hive-Mind Glitterati Goofballs. The kind of people who think that because they starred in a film about global warming, it makes them experts on the subject. Only an idiot takes these guys seriously, but no one has the heart to tell them so they just prattle on and on. Besides, they tend to say something stupid while on these junkets so I actually look forward to them going because I love a good laugh at their expense.

Palestine (Arabic: فلسطين‎ Filasṭīn, Falasṭīn, Filisṭīn; Greek: Παλαιστίνη, Palaistinē; Latin: Palaestina; Hebrew: פלשתינה Palestina) is a conventional name, among others, for the geographic region in Western Asia between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, and various adjoining lands.[1][2][3][4][5][6] The region is also known as the Land of Israel (Hebrew: ארץ־ישראל Eretz-Yisra'el),[7] the Holy Land, the Southern Levant,[8] Cisjordan, and historically has been known by other names including Canaan, Southern Syria and Jerusalem.

The PalestinePost which was a predecessor to the Jerusalem Post needed a name. A they were in the area known as Palestine it seemed a likely name I am sure.

You would have chosen another name?

Stephen Hawking's decision to boycott an Israeli conference in protest at the state's 46-year occupation of Palestine was derided as hypocritical by some, who pointed out that the celebrated scientist and author uses Israeli technology in the computer equipment that allows him to function.

Hawking, 71, has suffered from motor neurone disease for the past 50 years, and relies on a computer-based system to communicate.

According to Shurat HaDin, an Israel law centre which represents victims of terrorism, the equipment has been provided by the hi-tech firm, Intel, since 1997.

"Hawking's decision to join the boycott of Israel is quite hypocritical for an individual who prides himself on his whole intellectual accomplishment. His whole computer-based communications system runs on a chip designed by Israel's Intel team. I suggest if he truly wants to pull out of Israel he should also pull out his Intel Core i7 from his tablet," said Nitsana Darshan-Leitner of Shurat HaDin.

Not worth commenting on every photoshopped, manipulated, taken out of context pic. Remember the pulitzer nominated picture of Egyptian guy, holding dead palestinian boy, murdered by his own kin?

I have never seen that picture before but I would not assume from it that the soldier had attacked the sitting man. He is clearly looking past the man whereas if he was actually attacking the man I would expect him to be closer to him and looking like he is the person he is interested in.

BTselem gave Palestinians cameras so that they would be able to take pictures of how they were treated. To offer them some little defense.

I think a few people disagree with you.

The guy was also used on an official Egyptian government website and Palestinian Islamic Jihad site had it as their banner for a short while. And don't even get me started on this.

I only drank Coca Cola once. It was effervescent toothrot. I drank Pepsi a few times . Better taste, same deal. There are far better reasons not to drink either than because neoZionist thugs smash people's heads in Occupied Palestine.
