Using that logic the conference he is boycotting is only expanding on ideas based on previous international ones and is not an Israeli only one therefore he is boycotting an international conference that is is only hosted by Israel which is discussing the entire world. In any case,Intel supports Israel and in fact, the facility is built on disputed Palestinian land and employs eight thousand people. And, while Israel does not own Intel, the chips and equipment used by Hawking were designed and made there by Israeli workers paid for by Israel supporter Intel .

To continue using them free of charge is to support Israel as it supports Intel which in turn gets one third of it's exports from there.

While the i7 is a good chip, it's design does not rise to the level of a major revolutionary breakthrough. Although champagne is made in many countries, champagne is essentially a French innovation. Although modern jazz is played by a variety of musicians, it is essentially an Afro-American innovation. Although many countries make ICBMs, ICBMs are essentially a German (specifically Nazi) innovation.

Kilby's innovation was so revolutionary he was awarded a Nobel prize. Noyce's innovation was so revolutionary, that he was able to start Intel from it. To say that the Intel Chip has nothing to do with the ICs of Kilby and Noyce, is like saying a gear has nothing to do with a wheel. The microchip is nothing but a sophisticated array of ICs. Although the i7 is quite an improvement, it's design does not represent a major technological breakthrough. Not only that, but that voice synthesizer could be designed without Israeli assistance. Therefore, I would not characterize that voice synthesizer as based on Israeli technology.
