for weeks now I have been placing my money on the IRS scandal being the straw that broke the camels back of this administration. But this just broke every bone in the camel and put him in a body cast.

Obama has managed to (*)(*)(*)(*) off just about everyone except Media Matters and Jay Carney

Completely different. They were evesdropping on EVERYONE like this Tyrant is. And yes they are collecting call content, don't believe the liars who say they aren't. Numbers, duration and location is useless and tells nothing of the people.

Yeah.... only it could be that your government is actually trying to prevent another invasion of the Motherland. But lets focus on the more likely scenario of Lenin wanting to implement a totalitarianist regime. Yeah, lets do that

Granted I was a little kid under communism but I know what authoritarianism feels like and there is always an excuse.

This is about gaining control because "they" don't trust "us" and want to help us and promote the "greater good". They will destroy our privacy and trust to protect us from ourselves and, of course, allow the chosen few who can handle responsibility to live as they wish.

Look at who he surrounds himself with--rich globalists and celebrities. This is not a man of the people. He is business as usual.

This should be welcome news to our "progressive" friends. They like having an all-powerful government look after them, and the Obama Administration is obliging them.

Many Leftists love it because they believe that they are Obama's friend and will be rewarded. "Punish our enemies and reward our friends".

Really, now, Leffe. Obama just got through unilaterally declaring that the "War on Terror" is over. What's up with all this snooping?

Never mind the witch hunts that went on at the IRS, the targeting and harassment of journalists, etc. Yeah, let's do that and pretend that Obama & Co. would never do such a thing...

You are wrong, they tell the security services who is in contact with who, from which they can determine, with a % confidence factor, certain likelihoods.

Roll your eyes all you want but that doesn't change the fact that the US government is moving "forward" toward a police state.

This isn't a thread about Google and all the (*)(*)(*)(*) it is doing. But if your dumb enough to post pictures of yourself drunk online then you're big enough to accept the consequences of your actions. All the information Google gathers is done with the consent unlike the government. Personally I think we are freely adapting the technology the government will use to control us.

What ouotcome are you hypothesising? That Obama will become a dictator and end US democracy?

To be clear, I'm not defending the data gathering, I just think people are using this to try to make a point of an extreme situation, that is very very very very very very very very etc... unlikely.

What the hell did we expect from the Patriot Act and a new federal agency (DHS) - a non-intrusive dragnet for potential terrorists? Keep the borders open and unsecured and see what happens to our future liberties as we then have to deal with thousands of dedicated anti-Americans formulating their own custom versions of Death to America and Americans.

That's odd, because the adminstration said recently that it would continue another 20 years. And even if the "WOT" is ended (whatever the WOT is), the threat of terrorism will never go away, it has laways been with us.

If they have NO names or identifiers, how do they know who is who? USE YOUR HEAD! They are collecting contents for sure.

You missed the point, google specs (or another band) can and will capture everythign the wearer sees, meaning if you are drunk and someone is looking at you, it will be recorded. Your choice to be photographed in nearly every situation of your life will be removed. And google does not ask consent, it searches web sites for content. Google is by the by, i-spectacles are the point and they are the start of a brave new world.

Who's to say they aren't one in the same? President Obama appoints people who hold his beliefs. His crony then go to work to restrict our liberty.

With a % confidence. Your linked in or facebook, why does FB keep asking which Uni I went to and offering me 3 options, of which one is correect?

It's called data mining and it's very advanced stuff.

What a blowhard response. I work in IT and data mining is far from advanced stuff, it's data 101. Who cares about Liknedin or FB! What do THEY have to do with anything? Not every person in the USA or in the world for that matter uses those (*)(*)(*)(*)ty social sites.

I am pointing out the similarities between the country I lived in until I was 7 and the United States now, and how both started with the best of intentions but allowed "the greater good" to undermine ethics and morals.

You are wrong. This could be because you don't live here, though. People have been dragged out of their homes for Facebook posts. It's not the same country it was even 10 years ago.

You should be afraid for the loss of your common sense. It is the agencies around him you should be afraid of. Obama is clueless. This much is obvious.

Now I'm really confused. So Obama is not evil, it is his minions who I should be afraid of?
