It's just military speak and he no doubt picked it up from HIS commanders. For instance a Carrier Group Commander will talk about HIS carrier, SOCOM considers all the US forces under his command to be HIS soldiers, etc etc.

Military commanders call their units THEIR men, like it or not , Obama is the commander of the entire US military, making it HIS military.

Can you reference another president that used such terminology? As far as I can remember all recent presidents refer to them as our military, not their own... See that would be a compelling argument, evidence this was actually a common occurrence from multiple presidents. That would likely shut up every doubter...

In this statement that the OP has got himself so worked up over, Obama was not taking credit for ANYTHING.
