Again, it is not a matter of what I ego centrically like or do not like.

    I look at the facts.

And the facts are that junkies commit crimes and destroy entire societies.

So in that context, it goes way beyond my not using them.

    lmao.

it goes without saying really. of the 20 or so ppl iknow who joined the army, over 50% of them were drug takers. out of the 50+%, most of them were heavy drug users. this is why our government is slack on drug users, they never get arrested, because they constitute the bulk of our armed services.
ask yourself this, why would britain need an army when we are not under threat? it is to oppress other nations whose resources we try to manipulate.
how can you convince ppl to oppress other nations who pose no threat?
intoxicate them with drugs, make them lazy and worthless, drip feed them islamaphobias through the media and hey presto, you got a ready made army.

The problem is just too big to do anything about it, especially when presidents promote it and big banks continue to launder the money.

I'm sure it's been said a million times, but if drugs were legal you wouldn't have the gang violence, just like occurred in the Roaring 20's when alcohol was illegal. If drugs were legal the profit would be taken out of illegal drugs and there would be no incentive to push them, and on and on and on, yada, yada, yada... But the "war on drugs" is now a big industry with a big lobby.

Let's just all give up then.

    There are lots of rapists.

Probably never really get rid of it.

    May as well not bother.

    May well legalise that too.

    Jeez.

How do I know that the "war on drugs" is big business? According to the Wikipedia article below, the US govt spent $15 billion on the war on drugs in 2010 and states, counties, and cities spend a lot more on all kinds of programs The US has the largest per capita prison population the world largely due to the "war on drugs," there's the military costs of eradicating poppies in Afghanistan, coke in South America, and lots of other costs.

What, are you arguing that the "war on drugs" is a boon to the US economy? How do YOU know?

I'm starting to understand why Europeans have been killing each other for millennium.

If you don't understand that your opinion is draconian, then you should look in the mirror. So what if Alcohol/drugs may hurt society.

If you can't understand the slippery slope then all is lost. What if someone comes and says technology is destroying society,. They come for your computer to stop you from wasting your life on the internet.

Personal liberty MUST always come before the state and society,

I don't know why you are labouring this point when I amply covered it in my OP.

    Go read.

Seems your idea of 'strength' is executing people. We've seen the deterrent effect of capital punishment in America. There isn't one, murders continue to be committed and their death rows are full of people awaiting execution. Why do you think executing people for drug crimes would fare any better?

Can you name one of these "entire societies" that junkies have destroyed?

It would eliminate the highest up dealers that we could find and send out a zero tolerance message.

What would you prefer you do with such scumbags - have a cup of tea and a biscuit?

Try leaving Devon and going to inner cities.

Inner cities are not "entire societies", and drug addicts are a tiny minority. Unless, of course, you can post evidence of an entire society lying in ruins having been victims of these vicious junkies.

As for messages being sent that's a laughably naive notion. Even in countries where execution is mandatory for drug crimes the 'message' falls on deaf ears. Malaysia has admitted that the death penalty does not work, because drug crimes continue despite the 'deterrent', and executions are on hold.

No, they are not 'entire societies, but if you factor out all the major inner cities of the UK, you would be left with Devon.

I'd imagine that in places like Honiton, clotted cream would be the major hit of the day.

I'm jut asking why limit it to drugs/alcohol? There's lots of things that affect society as a whole.

We have kids/grown kids playing video games all day wasting their lives. Being Unproductive for society.

We have people who watch TV all day and wasting their lives. Being unproductive for society.

We have people who all they want to do is post on Facebook. Being unproductive for society.

We have people who eat their lives away. Hurting society.

we have people who all they do is talk on the phone all day. Hurting their families and society.

What if someone came and said you posting hours upon hours on a political forum is not good for society?

We already know your stance on homosexuality....

You can ignore my posts all you want, but everyone else on this forum sees you being Obtuse and evading.

    Topic is drugs.

Nothing else, and most certainly not me, as per the rules.

    Ok, Jack let's say your Utopian drug free paradise exists. Let's see what your own words are;

You are clearly saying you currently want to put drug users into FORCED mental help, then after this "purge" if you are caught using you would die.

    then you go onto say you would ban music;

How would you do that in a day and age of the internet. You would have to block youtube, Facebook, twitter, international TV. Society would never stand with you.

This is delusional type of thinking.

In my opinion, we have two choices. We can 1) give up on it and let drugs ruin a large part of society or 2) we can spend $billions fighting it and still have drugs destroy a large part of society. Just like spending $trillions trying to democratize Iraq and Afgh., a country has got to know its limitations.

Then by that same reasoning, we have two choices in relation to rape.

    1) We can resist it and pursue it whenever it happens.

    2) We can just 'give up'.

In fact, why bother with anything?

Why not just have absolute anarchy?

There are differences between rape and the drug trade. First off, I have yet to see someone turn rape into a profit-making business venture. People don't generally pay to be raped so there's not a lot of money in it.

Every generation will produce drug users. This is fact.
